I see you sailed the Majesty before whick is always a good thing to see when one wants to know the pros and cons. This will be our first Latitudes "party", can you give me an idea of when it will occur? What type of "at sea" activities besides the pool where my DH will reside icon_smile.gif

I just got back from the Majesty yesterday. It was a great cruise dispite the bad weather.

I am not 100% sure but the Latitudes party was on either Monday or Tuesday from 5pm-5:45pm.

There are tons of "at sea" activities so it is really up to you on what you might be interested in. The casino is open (slot & blackjact tournaments)(at sea only), there are art auctions, bingo, trivia, contests, spa seminars, napkin folding classes, fitness classes etc etc...the list goes on and on. There is something for everyone.

I'm on the Majesty now...embarkation was quick - some of our group were not Latitude members and got on the ship 10 min. after us! We received red carnations as we boarded and chocolate covered strawberries were delivered to all cabins for Mother's Day. Very nice. All registration for credit cards was done before boarding...convenient and quick. Rained until we sailed - the sun came out as we left Boston Harbor so we had a great sailaway party on the pool deck. It was very foggy last night and a bit rocky - we're on deck 6 in front and could hear the fog horn every few minutes - not a big deal. Today started cool and cloudy but the sun is out now..already have started to burn. Signed up for the spa yesterday because of special offers only offered on embarkation day.

Tonight is formal night. If you have any questions I'll be happy to answer them if I can.

The Latitudes party was not a big deal. Free cocktails and finger food. Captain said a few words and one of the staff members gave away some door prizes. All in all it was quite nice but nothing rave about. On our cruise they had 800 repeat cruisers and only invited about 400 to the party. Word got around pretty quickly and the other 400 demanded to be invited. It did make the theatre pretty crowded.

We really liked the Majesty. It is a smaller ship without some of the fancier stuff. However, we found her to be in good repair, spotless and had a very friendly and helpful staff.

The Pasta cafe (no added charge) is the best place on the ship for dinner IMHO.

The ship was full and never felt crowded to us at all. We always manged to get a deck chair. Food was good to excellent.

The theatre is the worst part of the ship IMO.

The sightlines are very bad and columns seem to be everywhere. If the shows are important to you, get there earliy to guarentee a good seat.

medsec,

oh my gosh! It is so nice of you to take time from your trip to check in here to us landlocked souls. We actually were down at Castle Island to watch the boat leave Sunday. You guys were so lucky! We couldn't believe how fast the sun came out. It was almost like someone had ordered it to arrive right at 4:00pm.

I have heard a lot of good things about the pasta cafe. Can you tell me what dishes they have prepared this week? Who is cruise director right now? Any issues you have encountered, i.e. brown water, inattentive waitstaff, etc.? When you say rocky last night, can you describe what it felt like? I have two kids sailing with us and am trying to prepare both them and myself for the worst case scenario...so any advice?

Thanks so much if you get a chance to answer these. I understand if you wait till you get back.

Enjoy....wish we were there!

I would agree with the previous posters. We were on the Majesty the week of Christmas and are going again the week of Thanksgiving. These are W. Caribbean cruises out of Charleston, so not the Boston/Bermuda cruise. However, if you are interested in the ship, it was in great condition and we had a wonderful time. We had a superior outside cabin on Deck 4 and it was very nice and of adequate size. The food was very good, but I would make a reservation for dinner or you could be waiting in line. As I've said on previous posts about NCL, freestyle dining is not for us and we prefer the traditional dining with better service. Regardless, we had a great time and are looking forward to being on the Majesty again in November. Have a terrific cruise!

Today was another gorgeously hot day!Mikenpat- so far no brown water - dining room staff have been excellent in the 4 Seasons. Our cabin steward is fantastic....he anticipates our needs. Someone got hurt by the hot tub this afternoon and cut her ankle and it took awhile for someone from the NCL staff to respond. The woman's friend was really upset and went to the pool bar to complain and finally they came up with a wheel chair to take her to medical I suppose. Watching them clean the blood splattered hot tub was another matter I'll get into at home but we won't be using that one on this trip.

We arrived early this morning and were docked before 9 and most people were off the ship soon after. I haven't been to the pasta cafe...menu changes daily I think. Not impressed but we may try it before the end of the week

Well gotta go....will check in again.

bkgadget- It is nice to see you on this board again. It was a pleasure meeting you and your lovely wife on the Majesty repo cruise. Last time I saw you, you were running for the airport in Boston trying to catch an early flight. Did you make it?, I heard you had some difficulties?
