Delta Jane, thanks for the great review. I too love your "voice" and sense of humor, and I think you and Morgan are a great looking couple. You seem like the kind of people I would love to meet on a cruise. I bet you would be a lot of fun. You also have a great attitude and take your mishaps and move on. I love that! I hope there are many more cruises in the future for you and Morgan and I hope they are all as wonderful as you both seem to be!:D

Other Ship Activities On the first day at sea, we went to the cooking demonstration that was held in the steakhouse. That was a lot of fun and very informative. Go early for a good seat.

We were handed the recipes for the four dishes that would be prepared. One chef narrated, one chefs prepared the food and one chef did fruit and vegetable carving while the chef was cooking. We were given the Mushroom Cappuccino to taste and the Tiramisu to taste. Both were delicious.

Loved your review, thank you so much! We are sailing the Valor in Jan. '13 for the first time & it helped confirm we made a good choice!

Ok, embarrassed to ask this, but after all those cruises, I don't know the answer! Is this cooking demo free?? I don't think I've ever noticed it before! (I looked back thru some old Funtimes; didn't see it??) It looks like a fun experience & the food looks fantastic. I'd love to do this but need to know what to look for. (Finally figured out about the Captain's Table and have booked it on the Valor also...I'm slow I guess!!)

Thanks!

Karen

Hi Kelane, Yes, the cooking demo is FREE !!! It should be on the first sea day, I think at 11:00 in the steakhouse. (We arrived 30 min. prior to the starting time and were in the first or second row. It filled up very quickly, so go early.

The wine tasting was being set up in the other part of the steakhouse because it was scheduled for the following hour. That has a $15.00 pp charge. We understand that is if fun, too.

I know you will have as much fun as we did. I know my reviews are from a different perspective than those of younger and more active cruisers, but I'm always glad to provide insight on some things that are 'ageless.'

Hope you'll write a review, too, when you return.

Thank you! Love your perspective and we're not that much younger!!! I am making a reminder to check out the cooking demo!

I guess we have gotten to the point where we don't feel we "have" to do anything on a cruise. We cruise for the ocean and for the "LACK OF" internet/cell phones/etc (for us at least)!!

Now, we order room service, hang on the balcony or deck, go to the casino...whatever we feel like whenever we feel like it! Haven't seen a show in awhile...MDR is not an obligation (we don't adjust tips so why would they care??). No gold by the inch.

So, when I see something like this I think "I REALLY need to put the drink down, read the Funtimes closer & do more of these things"!!

We have 15 days (9 sea days) in April, and I need to figure out a LOT more activities I've not noticed.

I keep "passing" on the Martini tasting...thinking I'll go completely wild and crazy and do that next time too!!!!

Again, thanks!

God Bless!

Karen

Delta Dear - quick question regarding your cabin. You stated that your cabin was right around the corner from the elevator, was it noisy at night when you were trying to sleep. My DH is blind in one eye, he can see pretty good out the other eye, but I am trying to decide what cabin location would be good for us. He wants mid-ship, which I also prefer, but I am worried about a lot of noise from the elevators and stairs if we are close to them.

When I say, 'Around the corner,' it is not so close that you have any noise issues. When you leave the elevator and turn toward your cabin, their is about a 75 to a 100 feet walk to the cabin door. If you are selecting a balcony, your cabin walls will be on the opposite side of the corridor from the elevators.

We just returned from the Breeze a few days ago and had Cabin 7340 which was the same basic place as our cabin on the Valor. If you can look at deck plans, you will see what I mean. What cabin are you looking at ? Let me know and I'll look at deck plans to give you a better opinion.

My husband has mobility issues so mid-ship is perfect for us because we can hop on the midship elevators and go to the Lido Deck, or have a limited walk in either direction to the forward or aft elevators if necessary.

Looking forward to hearing from you. You can email me at janelschool at aol dot com, if you prefer.
