Formal nights in Europe/Med ?

How *formal* are the elegant nights on Carnival ships cruising in Europe ?? Are men in a dress shirt and slacks acceptable or is a suit required??

Many men wore jackets too. But, nice slacks with a shirt and tie will be just fine. By the way some folks really dressed to the nines and others less so.

 

Enjoy the cruise. The Mediterranean cruise is a very special vacation.

Yes, that would be fine. We saw many women on the Magic Med/TA cruises in black slacks and a dressy or sparkly top.

Didn't sail Carnival but on Princess I'd say slacks and nice shirt with tie and similar for ladies work, overall the Europeans seem a bit more fashion and fit too :D

We did the 9 night Med cruise this past October and I have to say that formal night was pretty casual compared to other cruises I have been on. I wore a sun dress with strappy sandals while my DH wore dress slacks and a jacket (no tie). It did seem that older people (over 70) were the ones wearing tuxes and sequined gowns. I told my DH that on our next cruise that he could leave the jacket at home as it took up so much room and he wore it for 10 minutes.
