Is it worth 960.00 more to move from ocean view to Boardwalk balcony on Allure

No way, a boardwalk balcony is not an ocean view balcony that you can sit and watch the ocean. The noisy boardwalk is underneath you.

 

 

I totally agree. I would upgrade to an oceanview balcony though. Have you priced that?

Personally, I was on the Allure last year and had an oceanview balcony room, and it was much nicer to have my own private view of the ocean than an additional view of the boardwalk, which is accessible to everyone anyways.

We went on Allure in January '11 and had an oceanview balcony midship on about the 10th floor. Loved it.

 

Went on Allure November '11 and had 3 balcony cabins on the Boardwalk, the last three cabins, 11729, 727 and 725. Loved it!

 

Booked our cruise for February '13. Snagged up cabin 11729 AGAIN. LOVE THIS LOCATION.

 

You get a view of the ocean and see all of what is going on on the Boardwalk. We could sit and watch the performers practice at the AquaTheater.....which was amazing! I never got the sense people were staring at us while on our balcony.

 

To each his own, but I loved this location and walking out of the cabin door and walking 5 feet or so to a huge public balcony where I could sit in private and see nothing but water!

 

 

That's fair actually. If it were one of the Boardwalk-facing balconies with a view of the ocean off the back of the ship as well, then I'd say go for it!

I would think of what I could spend the money on, which is a lot during the week. The balcony is wouldn't be worth it for me.

We always booked a balcony ....I love to sit out there and listen to the ocean in peace and quite in the evenings and mornings. Once you have it its hard to go back to oceanview but I don't think I would pay extra to have a boardwalk view but then I haven't been on that ship yet.

We were in a BW balcony on the Oasis and agree with DENLUH, CARLA748, TEAJACK and OCEAN BOY.

We tried it because it would be a different experience, but, its back to the ocean balconies for us.

We also have gone back to the smaller ships.( Freedom class )

Put the question to you another way:

if they offered to upgrade you for free from your Oceanview to an inside balcony, would you take it?

 

I personally think the food chain goes (worst->better)

...so I would thus consider oceanview->inside balcony to be a downgrade... but that is me.

 

I think this is how RCI sees it also, based on prices of the oceanview cabin and the inside balcony cabins. Which is surprising. I would much rather be in a Central Park or Boardwalk balcony on a higher floor than to be stuck on deck 3 and a window with no possibility to get any fresh air.

I am a bit confused because Boardwalk balconies are much less expensive then ocean view balconies. Why are they charging you more? if anything you should be getting a credit for a lower class balcony.. I had a boardwalk balcony 1 cabin from the aft of the ship and really enjoyed it I had a great view of the boardwalk, wake, and the Aqua theater and it was about $300 less then an ocean view.

In my opinion, the OV balcony is preferable to an inside balcony, even the BW ones that overlook the aquatheatre. I wouldn't move for free, nevermind pay almost $1000. That extra money would be better used towards onboard expenses, excursions, or your next cruise.

Doesn't matter now, but I think the OP had two Oceanview cabins (no balcony) on the third floor and was going to have to pay $960 to upgrade to two inside balconies. Certainly I would not pay anything to downgrade from an Oceanview balcony to an inside balcony!

We also loved 11727 Boardwalk Balcony and will certainly book it again. Great view of ocean, boardwalk, Aqua Theater and close to the private balcony on 11. No noise, no smells, no invasion of privacy either. Best of all, our cabin was 1K cheaper than an ocean balcony!
