kaybeeeeeee Posted February 10, 2012 #1 Share Posted February 10, 2012 I'd like to put money in my onboard account before we leave so I don't have to carry very much in the way of cash or traveller's cheques. Is it possible just to call RCI and do this on my VISA? We were able to do this on Princess and it didn't come out as a cash advance. If the money is already there will I be able to access it at the casino without service charge?
jmf123 Posted February 10, 2012 #2 Share Posted February 10, 2012 Yes, On Board Credit can be purchased by calling RCI at (800) 722-5443. Have your booking # handy (and ask for item #651 if the rep isn't familiar with OBC purchasing). It can be purchased in any increment and is totally refundable if you have any left at the end of your cruise, just see Guest Services. Be sure to get an email confirmation of your purchase, and bring a copy on board with you, just in case. There may be a 3% fee for use in the casino, I know that buying casino OBC (#650) has this fee.

"If you would like to purchase an On-board credit for an existing reservation, please call 800-722-5443"...... Code #651. (Gift Certificates cannot be applied to sailings within 10 days.) kaybeeeeeee Posted February 10, 2012 Author #5 Share Posted February 10, 2012 Thanks Patti & JMF. Does anyone know the answer to whether or not there is a charge to access this kind of credit at the casino? It'll be much more convenient going to the casino cage than the Purser's Desk. The casino will charge you 3% when withdrawing money against your SeaPass account........so I would assume that yes, you will be charged. I would go to Guest Relations and take money out against your account to use in the casino...........I mean, it is your money.:D
Rudyard Posted February 11, 2012 #7 Share Posted February 11, 2012 I did this today and I can say it's quick and painless. When I called I got a recording which only gave me two options... Press 1 to buy gifts, or press 2 to rent a tux. You could probably press 0 to go straight to an operator but since it didn't give me that option I held on for about fifteen seconds without pressing anything and then got the usual message "Your call may be recorded blah blah blah". Was only on hold for a few seconds and spoke to a really nice representative. One thing though....you can only put down $500 at a time. I wanted to put $600 on my account so he broke it up into two payments of $499 and $101. I had to give him all my debit card info twice as he explained that they don't write it down for security reasons and the computer doesn't hold it from transaction to transaction for the same reason. Be sure and ask for e-mail confirmation as I don't think they do it automatically. He sent out an e-mail for each transaction as he wasn't sure they would both show up on one receipt, but they did. When I got home from work I had two e-mails waiting which showed both charges on each.

Thanks for relaying your experience. :)
