Would you give up your Cove for a regular balcony?

Theres no accounting for taste. Some just try one and get hooked on the lower location and unique perspective. Seem to have a cult following. Move up to a cove from OV or inside and most people would think they were in heaven.

 

 

Having sailed in a Cove I don't believe I've become part of a cult. The cabin's location is wonderful... the views are fantastic and everything is convenient.

For those who love the sea there is no better cabin...

When we booked our cove for our December cruise, it was actually $5/pp more over a standard balcony at the time. Still booked it, and glad we did, we loved it. Only way we will travel on this class of ship!

 

Why do we like it? Primarily because it's so close to the water. Also, standard balconies have a lovely view of...deck 5. From a cove, you can see the wake. And there's privacy, and no worries of noisy passengers at night from deck 5 that can be seen and heard from your balcony or cabin.

 

We would pay more for it (over a standard), but glad that not everyone feels the same way so the prices stay down. ;)

Ok so false alarm!!! After booking the 8C cabin, I decided to do a mock booking and and double check the fare price. To my surprise there was ANOTHER drop and the new fare was $1099! After looking further in, I saw that there was only one room at the even lower price, guess what room it was....My old cabin!!! So I called carnival back and the cruise specialist was more than happy to book me back into my cove, and instead of the $10 price drop, I saved $80 p/p AND got to keep my cove!!!

 

We have a cove when we cruise on 3/17/2012. From what I have read, everyone loved them. Also, the Magic and Dream ships have an extended deck which means you're looking down on a deck instead of the water.

 

You made the right choice with the cove. Enjoy you're cruise. :)

This morning I decided to check the current rates for my cruise as I always do. To my surprise my rate had dropped from $1179 to $1169. Now I know it was only $10 but hey, that's like 1-1/2 drinks on board. So I called up Carnival to see about a rate reduction, and was told that that rate was only for the regular balconies, but I could upgrade to an 8C from my 7C and get the lower rate. So I pulled the trigger. Do you guys think I did the right thing?

Its too wet down there.... I'll take a Spa Deck balcony anyday. Much better view when you get up higher. But with that being said i don't think there is a bad place on a cruise ship. Id do dishes just to cruise. Shhh Don't tell DW?

We had a Cove Balcony booked on the Dream May 19th...I booked the cruise Friday and then today a sale started...they have upgraded me to Deck 11. I was so excited when I first found out....but since then some people are telling me that I would have enjoyed the Cove Balcony better...should I call and ask them to downgrade my cabin back to that? Since the cruise was paid in full I couldn't get a refund so an upgrade in cabins seemed like a good idea....now I'm not so sure.:)

I would only give up my Cove if the upgrade was to a suite. :D

The upgrade is on the Dream to cabin 11276 ..... I haven't ever been on the dream before so I don't know if this is indeed a good thing or not...I know that the Cove was midship on level 2 Main Deck .... I guess I always thought that any of the higher up floors would be out of my price range...so I was really excited when they called and told me that for the same price I could be upgraded to the Panaroma Deck ( I thought that they said Spa Deck ... but when I got the e-mail and received the room number it is actually on the Panaroma one)

I loved our cove on the Dream. I just liked being closer to the water. Hubby could care less either way as long as it's a balcony. If I had a cove I wouldn't upgrade for a regular balcony. Now if you offer me a GS I would, just for the space.

 

We have sailed the Liberty since our two Dream trips and will sail the Valor and Legend before we get back on a Dream class. We are seriously considering the Magic for spring 2013 and I will be looking once again for a cove.

I would take the upgrade to a higher deck but DW would not. She really likes being closer to the water and it really makes little difference to me. From the higher decks you can see further but the coves give you good close look from a different angle. The only thing I did not like about the cove was that the life boats are directly over head. The size of the balc is not that much different than the standard balc. Warning, they wash the decks everyday and the cove balc floors do get wet when they do that, do not leave anything out there that water will damage.

No way would we give up our Cove Balcony on Breeze in January - we've been looking forward to it immensely! We've had every single type of Balcony cabin (with the exception of Aft Wrap and Suites), and loved each of them. I'm looking forward to being very close to the water and enjoying the scenery as it unfolds!

I wonder if I should call my PVP back and request to be moved back to a cove balcony on the Dream....there are plenty of them left...he moved us from Cabin # 2294 to Panorama 8G Balcony cabin # 11276. (My husband thinks it sounds great to be on the the Panorama deck since there is food on the that deck).....I don't even know if they would move me back down since it cost less now and I am paid in full...on top of that we have a new PVP who probably would think that I am crazy:confused:

We just booked 2 rooms side by side on the Magic for Sept 30th. Cabins 2431 and 2435. I hope we are able to open the partition and are excited about the cabin.

I haven't tried a cove yet myself. Once I book a ship with them, I will definitely try for one. I love the idea of being lower to the water instead of so high up.

We just returned from a great week on the Carnival Magic and our first cove balcony. I have cruised with regular balconies four other cruises and I just booked the Magic again for next March and you guessed it, another cove. I would actually pay a little more for a cove as it is closer to the water, has better privacy. Downsides that some may consider, shaded everyday as you are under the lifeboats, salt water spray on your railing each morning that you have to wipe off.

Well as for me i would have kept the cove balcony.I had one on the Dream and me and my husband loved it.I would rather have a cove that a regular balcony,but that is my opinion.;)
