Does Carnival Really Own the Costa Cruise Lines?

Recommended Posts

I didn't think they did. I have heard conflicting stories... some say no and then in an article I read this morning (and the comments below), it said they do own them.. Also there is another article saying that the Costa Concodia passengers are suing Carnival...

It's not going to stop my cruise experience as this is the only way to vacation in my book.. I just wasn't sure...

Yes.

In addition to the Carnival line, Carnival Corporation also owns Holland America Line, Princess Cruises and Seabourn Cruise Line in North America; P&O Cruises, Cunard Line and Ocean Village in the United Kingdom; AIDA in Germany; Costa Cruises in southern Europe; Iberocruceros in Spain; and P&O Cruises in Australia.

Yes and No.

Some just say Carnival. Well Carnival is owned by Carnival. What is not always said is that CARNIVAL CORPORATION is the parent corploration to those cruise lines that beachbum 53 listed. So Carnival Cruise Line does not own Costa Cruise Lines, but Carnival Corp does.

Cannot state this as a fact, but have heard part of the reporting problem is that some of the media are owned and/or controlled by another cruise corporation that is a Mickey Mouse operation.. Read between the lines.

Princess, Carnival, Holland America, and Costa are all owned by the same parent company ... kind of like Taco Bell and Pizza Hut were (at one time - not sure about now). Doesn't mean they run the same way at all -

Taco Bell and Pizza Hut are owned by Pepsi.

Read all about it.

The parent Company and what their holdings are http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carnival_Corporation_%26_plc

Carnival Corporation & plc comprises eleven individual cruise line brands, operating a combined fleet of over 100 ships, totalling over 190,000 lower berths, and with new ships on order.

Executive control of each brand is by geographical location, with Carnival Corporation controlling operations in North America,

Carnival UK controlling operations in the United Kingdom (including operations of Princess Cruises, P&O Cruises, P&O Australia and Cunard Line)

and Costa Cruises Group controlling operations in the rest of Europe.

P&O Cruises Australia is operated by Carnival UK as a sister company of P&O Cruises.
