kingoftheicedragons Posted March 3, 2012 #1 Share Posted March 3, 2012 Sorry if 1) this has been brought up previously--I tried searching some of the threads on Destiny and didn't see this, or 2) if I'm spreading unfounded rumors. But I read on Wikipedia that the Destiny was going to be re-christianed with a new name that hasn't been decided by Carnival yet. Is this true, and if so, is it leaving the Carnival fleet? MrPete Posted March 3, 2012 #2 Share Posted March 3, 2012 All we do know so far is that she is heading for Europe. There is a transatlantic cruise involved, but nothing following that published. So rumors are rampant regarding where she may be heading afterward.
darth frosty Posted March 3, 2012 #3 Share Posted March 3, 2012 When I heard she was headed to europe I figured they may slide her over to one of their other lines (concordia.) While I love the destiny she gets a bad rap and review from a lot of people. With a drydock refurb and name change, that can help remove the bad odor some have for this ship. Rare jimbo5544 Posted March 3, 2012 #4 Share Posted March 3, 2012 It is true that what once was the grand dame of Carnival has fallen and gets not so great reviews. If they did a name change with the major refurb, one might suspect her moving to another CCL brand.
big_duck Posted March 3, 2012 #5 Share Posted March 3, 2012 Smart of you to double check a Wikipedia "reference". Carnival announced last July they would be refitting the Destiny, but because the TA cruise was announced post-Concordia, everyone assumes that the two are related. A classic post hoc ergo propter hoc
ChefSusan Posted March 3, 2012 #6 Share Posted March 3, 2012 From what I heard she will be going to Costa to replace the ship that was wrecked last month. Yet another ship being retrofitted for another company...
