I am not sure what happened either I was not there I am just saying I myself have never had anything like this happen to me in the 10 years I have been using this company. I find it sad that just because one group had a bad experience the company should be bashed like this. Someone was having a bad day whether is be the crew or the guest. I just know that from knowing this group I find it hard to believe this happened.

That's all good, but my vacation time is too precious to have an episode like this in the back of my mind. We head out there in 15 days... And there is no way I would even consider this group. I would have taken the story with a grain of salt... And as I was reading the first post, I was thInking "this just sounds like someone venting... Would love to see some proof"... Low and behold, the copie of the email response are in the following posts.

Like I said, my vacation time and my hard earns dollars are to precious to spend them with a group that has this sort of attitude and trays it's customers this way. I hope they are reading this thread.. And would love for them to respond... But I will be spending my day at Iberostar and will enjoy their world class service... That's what they do.

Sorry this happened to you and your group.

I for one will never understand why people on these boards think if your review/experience is not their same as theirs you MUST BE WRONG.

I appreciate you coming on here and sharing your experience with us.

In the past, Jamaica has been my favorite port. But after the nasty responses you have received about us Americans, well, I may be viewing Jamaica with different glasses now. I truly hope that it was a case of this one awful tour operator and not the whole country...as I said before I love Jamaica.

Maybe someone had a good experience with this tour group, but to me it's just as important how you handle something when it is a bad experience. The way this tour operator handeled (or not handled) your situation is HORRIBLE. I'm glad you posted about them.

I can easily overlook a bad review(s), form my own conclusions whether or not i take a review as credible. I also understand you can receive many different points of view of the same thing. However, in no situation, should that owner/operator responded with such rude and hateful comments about Americans (or any other nationality).

That rude comment alone, will keep me from ever doing business with them, and i will also help spread the word about such a negative business.

My AMERICAN dollars will certainly not be spent with a company like that. I don't care how many good reviews they get from here on out.

Thanks again OP for posting. Sorry you had such a lousy tour. I too would have been very upset.

To the others....the OP doesn't have to see things your way. She's entitled to her own opinion, just like you are.

No i was not on this tour, no i do not know the op. Yes, I still love Jamaica, I hold this tour operator accountable, not the people of Jamaica accountable. I will not let one bad apple spoil the bunch.

Everyone has a bad day and misunderstandings happen. It is the response to the problem that is important. To attack Americans means they do not want American Business. I will be in Jamaica in August and this American will not be usiing their services!

Very good points....a bad day is one thing, but that letter is over the top

I also wonder how/where someone used this company for 10 years...out of Montego Bay or?? Cause this excursion was out of Falmouth, which adds drive time to the trip so my guess is that may have made it worse

I still don't see the need to keep putting a positive spin on this, maybe someone had good trips with this company BUT the "letter from Denise" just seals the deal. Companies change too....and policies change. Maybe Denise is a new and poor addition to this company.

Ultimately it is everyone's vacation choice....when you something this negative you are right to give them a pass...why waste your time and vacation dollars to give some company a "2nd chance"?? Sorry but NO thanks

I personally plan to avoid Falmouth, but I would go on ships to Ochos or maybe Montego Bay. Falmouth is out in nowwhere, adds drive time to any excursion.

We have used them out of Montego Bay since 2002 and I am from the Dallas area.

I've made reservation with Jamaica Watersports for May. Have been in contact with Denise and still after reading these posts I'm going to stay with them.

I've read a lot more good about them than bad.

They seem to do what the customer wants depending on the cruise and how many where are the tour.

For $35.00 plus for us a transfer it's pretty reasonable.

I've never been to Jamaica but have booked a cruise that stops in Ocho Rios. This has me wondering if I even want to get off the ship!

There must be some truth to the OP's complaint, regardless of other people's experience with the tour operator. The most telling, though, is the email response she received. I would not book with any operator that communicated with their clientele that way.

So I am a little late posting here but I was also apart of this tour. To the poster who "knows" this group and doesn't believe a thing. I am sure you don't know me as I was a new and late addition. Here is my details:

They were 20-30 minutes late picking us up

They stated we could snorkel as long as we wanted. However after about 20 minutes we were told get back on boat. I asked for more time and was yd no can do.

The did indeed drop us at the bar for 4 hours. I asked if we could be picked up sooner was told no can do mama

I did shop outside on the hip strip. Did not feel at all safe.

I took a taxi back to the ship after an hour so can not speak on what happened during the return trip.

These are the facts - take it or leave it but please do not call the op and others liars. You were not there I was.

Your money :) It's cheaper to take the hop on hop off bus to the hip strip... sounds like that is where you are going to spend 90% of your time.

If this reply was meant for me as being the one that "knows" this group. I was not calling anyone liars. I was just stating that I have never been treated this way by any one at this company. No I was not there so I don't know what happened. I was just stating that I have had good experiences with this group. I am sorry that your group didn't have a good experience but the experience you had seems to be a isolated incident. Apparently someone was having a bad day. I just felt that these guys deserved a good review to go along with your bad one. Like I said in the 10 years I have used them I have never had anything like happend to your group happen. So yes I will continue using them and I will continue referring them to fellow travelers.

To anyone reading this thread thinking this could be a good excursion for you, or your group. It is not!!

These people lied to us, didn't hold up their end of the contract, they only let us snorkel for about 20 minutes then dumped us at Margaritaville for almost 4 hours, one of our group was struck in the head with the boom, they practically called her a liar, and couldn't care less.

1/2 of this group took taxis back to the ship rather than be left at the bar with the over priced food and drink.

Basically we paid 35 dollars each for a water Taxi to a bar.

Also one of our group was almost robbed of his camera from a store employee next to the bar, and when he grabbed his camera back and left the store, the employees followed him to the street and tried to fight him. So no, it is not even a safe area to be dropped off at in the first place.

Make sure you know the company I am talking about http://www.jamaicawatersports.com/index.html

They are liars, cheats, unsafe, and definately uncaring.

What did you expect for 35 dollars? The other one run around 80 dollars. I have use them in the past like 10 times and have never had a problem with any of them. They even sent one of the workers with me shopping in town. I wish they would let me stay at Margarettaville that long. I have never got to stay that long. The tour isnt 4 hours to 6 hours long all together. I've always been very please with them for the cost.

Just curious if the when you "use them in the past like 10 times" if it was with celeste cruiser or if that is just a coincidence you are from the same town? Why do you feel the need to defend a jamaican tour operator that responds the way they did? I am glad you enjoyed them while you could, because I doubt they will be in business for long with this type of attitude towards those awful Americans.

To the OP I suggest you post this info on tripadvisor as well.

Im very sorry some one has had a bad experience. We went on the snorkel and to Margaritaville tour last May. We snorkel for about an hour. We then went to the Beach and Margaritaville and shopping. I was a single Mom taking my daughter's aged 18 and 19. There were two other families on the boat. The group was about 12 people. We had a very good time, and it was a highlight of our cruise. I was very afraid of Jamaica with young girls......We were escorted and safe the entire time. It was exactly what I anticipated. The rum punch was good too!

After talking and being in contact with this your company and a little more insight I have no problem using them.

What I have read from the posts also it was a private tour with over 40 people.

That's a lot on one boat, not all are going to be happy.

I'll let you know how it goes in May when we get back.:)

Thats the point that I have been trying to get across, there are going to be times when someone is not going to have a good time but there are just as many that have had a good time on this tour. We have always felt safe with these guys. As a matter of fact there were some friends we have sailed with before went to Jamaica last week and they saw these guys at Margarettaville and they gave them a ride back to the pier from Margarettaville. They hadn't booked thier tour just out of kindness they gave them a ride back. Now thats the guys that we have dealt with everytime we have gone to Jamaica. We are always escorted and feel safe. Maybe its because we are women traveling by ourselves they feel protective.

  • 2 weeks later...

Just home from Carnival Magic. We used Jamaica Water Sports and it was the highlight of our week! Denise and Marvin were excellent. We had plenty of snorkel and leisure time on the boat....we had 50 people and it was not crowded. We were dropped off at Dr Cave and picked up there 3 hours later. Many of us shopped and walked to Margarittaville in addition to the beach. They also had good shopping on the boat...better prices than in town and my daughter got braids too on board. My son and cousin were fascinated with the conch shell blower and so one of the guys made 2 for them and sold them for $10. Anyway...had a great day!!!

I sure wish I had seen this post before using these people last week.

We were in Montego Bay and use this excursion for the day. They picked us up late and took us swimming for 25 minutes. Then took us to Magaritaville and told us that they would be back in 45 minutes. So, we waited and waited. After 1 hour and 45 minutes of waiting my wife asked me to check with someone. I went downstairs and asked if we missed them the the guy there told me that there are always late. I explained that we were suppose to be picked up more then an hour ago. He took me up to one of the managers whom found a phone number for these people and called. To no surprise, there was no answer. I went back up to inform my wife who was boiling mad at this point. We asked the staff where we could get a taxi and they told us that taxi's were out front so we grabbed one back.

How could these people just drop us off and forget about us? We will never use this company again and will let others not to either.

Nope....it was our favorite trip of the week. Yes, we had almost 3 hours free time ashore...but that's what we signed up for. In all fairness...Denise was aboard our boat and perhaps that makes a difference?? I wrote a review on Carnival main page entitled 3/25 Magic...there are pics as well
