metsfan47 Posted March 5, 2012 #1 Share Posted March 5, 2012 We are booked on the Zuiderdam for an Alaska cruise in June. We have chosen anytime dining (As You Wish?) since that is what we liked about cruising with NCL. What are our dining options? I understand that there is a main dining room with 2 formal nights. Are there also specialty restaurants that have a cover charge? Do they have formal nights, too? I guess there is a buffet, what is that like? Thanks, Fran
Boytjie Posted March 5, 2012 #2 Share Posted March 5, 2012 The dinner options are the Main Dining Room, Pinnacle Grill (steak and seafood, extra fee), Canaletto (Italian food, a cordoned off section of the Lido, no fee), the Lido buffet and room service (no fee and you can even order from the menu served in the main dining room in addition to regular room service items) There should be two formal nights for a 7-day cruise and it is observed in the Main Dining Room and Pinnacle; Canaletto and Lido buffet are more casual. Krazy Kruizers Posted March 5, 2012 #3 Share Posted March 5, 2012 The Pinnacle Grill is $25 per person and is really great -- JMO.
Mary Ellen Posted March 5, 2012 #4 Share Posted March 5, 2012 We have chosen anytime dining (As You Wish?) since that is what we liked about cruising with NCL. You have elected the open seating option of HAL's 'As You Wish Dining' (their generic term for all onboard food service). The only part of As You Wish Dining not available to you is the traditional, fixed seating at dinner - which you don't want anyway. The HAL site has lots of info on the various places you can eat. None of the ships sailing to Alaska have a Tamarind Restaurant.
