nadya Posted August 30, 2005 #176 Share Posted August 30, 2005 i am very sorry you had such an bad time on the glory. I am also very sorry for the crew's behaviour. To tell you the truth is that i was also working on the glory, but not at the time you where there. You must also understand that some of the crew that work on these ship come from not so nice life's and this is the only way to support their families. the crew get a sertain amount af "crew parties" a monthes the only reoson for this parties is to keep them motivated cause some og the crew is on the ship for 8 - 10 monthes at a time. please forgive them. im sure you will be more understanding now that you know the possisions they are in. and Trust me some of the guests on the ship can be really had to please and still the crew must allways be understanding and smiling:)
Astronomer Posted August 30, 2005 #177 Share Posted August 30, 2005 I still think the simple solution is the lost and found. This stuff has been sitting in this chair for 3 hours and no people, remove it to the lost and found. That would just be a kind and considerate act. cruizinrican Posted August 31, 2005 #178 Share Posted August 31, 2005 If your going to be up anyways, maybe you should join them?! LOL If there were going to keep you up, I would have demanded to be invited too! Cruizinrican;)
mrdood Posted August 31, 2005 #179 Share Posted August 31, 2005 I would have tossed your orange towels where you would have had a hard time finding them... teens are just stupid. I am sorry about the noise, I may have gone postal myself, I probably would have gone up to the bridge and pounded on the security door until one of the officers opened up. And for the party girls - dang, where was I???
missjean Posted August 31, 2005 #180 Share Posted August 31, 2005 I wonder if the crew party complaints have come up often. I just got off the Elation, and at the past guest party the Cruise director announced that the crew party was going to be at the lido pool that evening. We were welcome to hang out with them afterwards, around midnight or so, and enjoy the jam session they were having. I don't think food was included for the passengers, but I saw them preparing and the buffets looked better than what we had at Tiffany's! ;) I didn't stay up but my brother and his friends did and they had a blast with the crew and other passengers! I wonder if it went well and whether they (Carnival) are going to continue having crew parties this way. It's kind of nice to see the crew let loose since they were working really hard (at least on our ship)! We did see the after effects on our bar waiter at dinner, but he managed to keep a smiling face and a great attitude!
jollyroger1965 Posted September 1, 2005 #181 Share Posted September 1, 2005 I was impressed with how security handled the drunken guests (apparently they threatened to disembark them). I guess they don't have the same kind of clout with the crew, who just disregarded them completely. I get the feeling that the crew regards ships security like the keystone cops. They really should've woken up the Hotel Director, they might have listened to him. This was more likely a crew party organized by Ship's Management anyway, authorized by CCL. It's organized once or every second month on every ship for 'crew' without privileges (that's over 60%) to be up in guest areas (disco etc) and looking at where the location was, it was more likely in the area where stores come on from or one of the crew messes. The party would have normally stopped anytime between 2 and 3 pm usually, since most cruisers are up at the casino, disco etc till that time thus reducing the number of complaints. Oh, by the way...the Hotel Director probably was the organizer with approval and planning done by senior management on board and was probably at the party himself with the presence of the Captain and other senior management (it's like any big organization....management skills and duties towards other employees etc etc etc). It is the one and only way crew morale can be boosted and in an indirect way giving us cruisers a bunch of smiling crewmembers serving our needs. A crew member (and I'm not talking about staff memebrs and officers) is practically restricted to crew areas for 6 to 10 months of the years...be kind...they like every other human being, need to let out some steam at least once a month!! The original poster was unfortunate that all this occured one the same cruise as she was on but I guess if the party was held on the open decks there would have been more people disturbed having crew dancing on the ceiling above cabins and footsteps of over 900 crew members walking on deck to and from the party. There is no way, crew would have been allowed to bang on the ceiling but one has to realize that there is probably a couple of inches between ceiling and floor and noise would have been heard above deck. With regards to Security on board....rather than blame them for everything that happens on board we shouldn't forget that they have been keeping the ship safe from threats that you nor I can't comprehend. The work they do behind closed doors in conjuction with every law and federal agency in the USA is more than we see. Talking about clout...a lot more than you think....a lot of consideration goes into dealing with cruisers but with crew....they lose their livelyhood in a blink of an eye if found disregarding a security person's instructions (They speak for the ship's command). Give the guys a break...they would have had no say in the matter (crew party) except keep reminding the organizers that a complaint had been lodged thus toning the party down a notch. Am I going to be flamed.....I'm sure I will....but this is telling it as it is.

cathyoo Posted September 1, 2005 #184 Share Posted September 1, 2005 I'm just saying that if my biggest complaint was a period of 3 hours that were noisy, I'd consider that a successful cruise. I certainly wouldn't be writing letters to HQ. Ahh, in my youth, 3 hours in the middle of the night would have not have fazed me at all. However, if I lost 3 hours sleep at my ripe age, the whole next day would be ruined. In fact, when I don't sleep I catch a cold, guaranteed. My body clock won't let me sleep in so that would not be viable solution. I am a restless sleeper except when I am on a cruise. I usually get WONDERFUL sleep on a ship. It is one of the reasons I cruise. I totally agree with the OP once she complained that should have been the end of the problem. You are very lucky that you can afford to lose a nights sleep and still have a wonderful vacation.

There isn't an excuse for what happened and no doubt the crew did the banging on purpose....... Anyways have a nice day and good luck on getting a response. If you will notice this thread is many months old & should not even still be here since the OP is now banned from CC. But then again, I see you are new here and personal attacks on me or anyone else are not allowed. Looks like this response could be GNO reincarnated, with the attitude & stupidity shown in this post. Believe me, I am anything but a hoity toity snob. I have cruised several times on the bottom deck, in the very front cabin & in the very back cabin so yes, I do know the difference in cabins. Still my opinion, if you pay more & book a cabin higher up, you have less noise & problems. Gogetter: I suggest you go read the rules around here before you attack anyone else or we will be rid of you soon. :D

Seems like some of the responses to her post were a little much but no worse than a whole lot of responses on other threads. Wow, banned. If you get banned can you come back with a different screen name?
