Is there a currency exchange on the Diamond Princess ? Do we need to get local currencies for China, Japan, Korea, etc etc before we leave home ?

HELP We are leaving Saturday for Beijing.

If you're leaving Saturday, it's probably too late to get currency at home. There is ATM machine onboard; if it's working. Past experience is you don't need it for China; US dollars OK. Japan is iffy and Korea run hot and cold. I will be in all these places in April and will not exchange unless I have to do so.

Call one of your big banks Alice, Royal might have something quick for you.

The exchange rates on the ship is ruinous. Use an ATM on shore or go to a bank. Even a travelex is better.

I would use an ATM in any country where you need local currency.

 

China - most will take US$. Buses & metro will not.

Japan - Most will NOT take US$

But she's Canadian, so either way she's going to need a currency exchange.
