Is Regent worth the extra $$$$?

We would love to try some of the other lines, but Silversea and Seabourn have too liberal smoking policies. For us, it's a deal breaker.

We felt the same way. But, Silversea no longer has smoking on balconies which was enough of an improvement to make us give it a try. The only place that smoking was an issue was at The Bar in the evening when smoke from the smoking section wafted over to the non-smoking section.

We found Silversea equal to Regent in most ways. In some areas Silversea was better.. . . in others Regent was. We been in all three "types" of ships (sailed on Whisper and Spirit -- toured the Cloud). The Whisper was the most comfortable (and beautiful) ship we have sailed to date. It's the size of the Navigator with 100 less people and beautiful public spaces. Definitely not impressed with the Spirit and found the Cloud too small, dated -- just not right for us.

For a change -- it's worth a try (IMHO)

TC--did you notice a lot of smoke wafting into the hallways from the suites? Just wondering, since you said that the only other area that was problematic was at The Bar, but since SS no longer allows balcony smoking, am curious about the hallways since smoking is still allowed in the suites. Thanks!

(folks, NOT trying to get a smoking/no smoking thread going here! Just asking a question....:))

I did notice it in the hallway in a couple of places when we walked by -- nothing really bad. Fortunately it did not waft into our suite on either of our SS cruises. The most annoying thing to us was how many nights we had to dress up. Still, the experience is so different and lovely that it was worth it.

To get this a bit back on topic, I feel that both Regent and Silversea are worth the extra money.. . . . however, we remain quite loyal to Regent:)

Can't see us "jumping ship" from Regent as of now. But, it's great to be able to stay informed of other possible options on other lines that are similar to the Regent experience.

Regent seems to fit our wants the best at this time, and hopefully we will be able to cruise w/ them again soon!

I agree about the people. I did not encounter any pretentious people. Everyone was friendly and interested in travel. Most people did not have elaborate jewelry or designer this or that. (Not that they might have had them at home.)

We felt that the ship was just our ticket. A very good fit for us.

We loved the all inclusive. And the service. WOW!

The tours were as all tours are...some great, some ok, some not so good.

I would not say that Regent is not vetting their tour guides. Some areas don't have as good guides as others.

We booked another cruise on the second day. Our only worry is that we have already done a lot of their itineraries. But maybe the itineraries will change in the future.
