Select dining vs traditional early seating - table for 2 - Summit

We're trying to figure out how to have the best shot at being seated between 6 & 7 at a table for 2 on the Summit in July. Right now we have traditional early seating. I'm considering switching to Select dining (we'll prepay our tips either way) because we really want a table for 2. We'll likely just book the same time every night (and then cancel on the nights we decide to do Normandie and QSine) and so, hopefully. Would we then have the same wait staff in Select Dining? We do enjoy having the same wait staff.... but not at the cost of a table for 2.

We don't care so much about what time we are seated so long as we can make it to the show after dinner.

Which do you think has the best shot of getting us a table for 2 and dinner in time to make the after dinner show - early seating traditional or select?

Hi Pinma, we also prefer tables for 2 and tried Select for the first time on Summit last summer. We ate around 6-630 many nights and were always able to get the table for 2 . We tried several wait teams until we found the pair we liked and then requested that waiter's table each night. We were able to sit in his section on all but one occasion and probably could have then if we had wanted to wait a bit. My understanding is that there aren't too many tables for 2 in traditional dining.

We are sold on Select and have done it on a subsequent cruise and have it booked for upcoming ones :)

Definately Select for tables for 2. There seem to be far more in the Select dining section. You cannot reserve a specific table although you can request it. You can however, reserve a specific time. At the MDR entrance there are 2 lines, one for reservations and one for "Johnie come lateleys" ( we are always in the second line) as we love just turning up when it suits us and not because it is 8.15 or whatever. Would never go back to traditional again. On both our cruises this year Select was oversubscribed and lots of people were disappointed when they could not get it.
