Is there a ferry from Alcatraz to Sausilito?

We are going on a cruise and will be in S.F. for the whole day (7am-8 pm). We thought we would start the day at Alcatraz and were wondering if there would be a ferry to Sausalito from there? Also would it be too much to do to go to Alcatraz, Sausalito and then back to the wharf to get our tour of S.F. that leaves at 1:30-2?

 

We have never been to S.F. before and just want to see as much as possible. Any suggestions or recommendations? We are in our late 50's and will be with our adult daughter.

 

We could do a morning tour of Muir woods and sausalito and then the afternoon tour of S.F. but would then miss out on Alcatraz.

No, there isn't a ferry from Alcatraz to Sausalito.

 

Your day might be a little packed. Alcatraz, Sausalito, then a SF tour? Pretty jammed. I think I would drop Sausalito plans, or do a SF tour that might include Sausalito.

 

Do you have Alcatraz tickets yet? If not, get them. They go very fast. Then plan your day around that firm committment.

I agree, get your Alcatraz tickets in advance. They do sell out. As an example, if you went online right now and tried to book this coming Saturday, departures prior to 11:30am are already sold out.

Your tour would go something like this:

Ferry to Alcatraz from SF

tour Alcatraz

Ferry from Alcatraz to SF

Ferry from SF to Sausalito

?? in Sausalito (imo aside from the view and a few eateries the only thing Sausalito has going is the Bay Model and that won't appeal to everyone).

Ferry to SF

Tour SF

 

Id drop Sausalito and focus on Alcatraz/SF. Id also have contingency plans, some places aren't quite as nice when they're fogged in (eg: Coit tower and Sutro tower, Ocean Beach, the Presidio etc...).
