It's a way to quickly check your fare so you can see if it's dropped: http://www.carnival.com/BookingEngine/FareViewer

See the value of sharing. Somebody didn't know this, so it's helpful that they can get additional information.

To those that say, do your own research or I'm not that altrustic...my question is why? Why reinvent the wheel? What's it to you if somebody else gets a great bargain due to your deligence in finding it? That's part of our problem as a nation, people seem to be less willing to help others and try to keep everything to themselves, even stuff that doesn't really even matter.

Great idea. Just as people come here to let us know about price drops. Many people log right on to the Fare Finder, myself included, and have saved money. I personally appreciate the posters who have given us a chance to save just as they have. Some people get the deductions, and some don't, but all appreciate the chance to check for it. Thanks for suggesting it.

Fare finder? Is that on cruise critic or another website? Never heard of it?

Instead of waiting until after you return from a cruise or months after booking, if you find an incredible rate, come on here right away and let folks know.

I have read numerous times that somebody booked a seven day cruise for $299.00 or even less at times and made no mention of it to the greater community. Don't you think this is something somebody would be interested in?

So...if you know of incredible rates, please post them timely so others can jump onboard if they choose to. Thanks!!

Sorry but it is not my job to be on the look out for great rates for other people. If I wanted to do that I would have become a travel agent.

Read the original post again. She didnt say to "be on the look out for great rates". Only suggested that if you got a great rate or deal on your cruise to celebrate it here to let others know so they can try and get the same if so inclined.

Also...why not share the good news.....maybe because those that say "no" to this idea would be jealous or pi$$ed off that you didnt do as well?

Sorry if you misunderstood my original post. I'm not suggesting that you be on the lookout. But as you search and perhaps even book your cruise, if you note a really outstanding rate, almost too good to be true, just let others at cc know about it. I'm not suggesting run of the mill rates, just the great deals. Some folks have posted rates that are literally knock your socks off and I'd like to know and I'm sure others would to so they can perhaps jump onboard.

Why not share rates, we talk about tips in the casino, ways to smuggle alcohol and other stuff, right?

Sounds like a good idea, but you can't post other TA's or other online sites where you get the great rates!!!

No, but that rate would be the same on carnival.com as it would be on any other website since no one is allowed to advertise a lower rate than Carnival itself.

The rates I get from my TA are not advertised nor are they the same as Carnivals. So how would others be able to get my price without me telling them my TA's info? Plus if you are just looking at rates on Carnival.com wouldn't it make sense to just check there yourself?

Like a 7 day cruise for $299 with a $200 OBC AND bottle of wine?

I saw something to that effect the other day on one of the sites I visit.

While sites can't advertise a lower price, often their other offerings such as OBC and gifts more than make up for it.

Would share but that is not allowed.

No, not advertised, but some TA/websites give you a discounted group rate.

The idea is good, but since we cannot post TA info, it would be impossible to post where I got the deal from and the circumstances.

I do love to shop and shopping for cruises is fun, so I wish we could actually do this. I'm in the 5 step program for shopaholics.

I can promise you that there is a huge difference between the posted rates and some of my booked rates, like 50%.

There are cruise sites where you can discuss TAs, but no one does there either because there are so many jealous green eyed TAs, that are there to get business and posting like know it alls, that you can't really discuss deals on other sites.

The idea sounds great, but the reality is you just cant because you are always going to be stepping on someone's toes.

What the reality is people tell their friends about deals, but they really dont post about them in public. People like you assume there arent deals since TAs dont post discounted prices in public and the circle keeps going.

Hmmm my next 7 day cruise is costing me $200. My five star hotel is free and so is the round trip flight for me and my room mate. :D Of course I won't be getting any free wine, but I will get $100 OBC.

lol well you know you actually could do this.. but it would not necessarily be the deal it sounds like .. or it might be :D

I got a SW card, so my last two flights were free, and I got one more .. and so on. (I can post this!!!)

There are ways to save a lot on cruising if you are diligent.
