sofiefleurie Posted May 6, 2012 #1 Share Posted May 6, 2012 Has anyone tried making reservations through Euro Railways? We will be continuing on to Paris after a Fall TA and I am not familiar with this company.
southwestie Posted May 6, 2012 #2 Share Posted May 6, 2012 They a good company to use, rail Europe is another good company, but you would get the same if not better deal via SNCF ,
Cruise NH Posted May 6, 2012 #3 Share Posted May 6, 2012 Use www.eurostar.com It is the direct website to the trains. RailEurope is terrible. Check out tripadvisor.com if you want to hear some stories of how they hike up the prices. We booked our trips through the eurostar site and got the best price and the full schedule of trains, something you don't always get with railreurope. You won't regret going to the source. Whitemarsh Posted May 6, 2012 #4 Share Posted May 6, 2012 Has anyone tried making reservations through Euro Railways? We will be continuing on to Paris after a Fall TA and I am not familiar with this company. Just book direct on eurostar.com for the London to Paris trip. It's a very pleasant journey and much better than flying. You can swap from the train to the metro once you get to Gare du Nord. http://www.seat61.com/Paris-metro.htm Spend a little extra money and travel in standard premier on the Eurostar - it's worth it. I agree with this, great advice :) . Esp about Standard Premier, really worth the extra. Comfortable larger seats, "at-seat" service and quieter atmosphere. This is good to hear as we booked two seats in that class in July! The seat map was helpful too.
Whitemarsh Posted May 7, 2012 #8 Share Posted May 7, 2012 I love Paris. When you're next there, make sure you visit these places. Goumard, which is an excellent seafood restaurant in Paris. http://www.goumard.com/en And Ladurée, which is a wonderful cake shop. http://www.laduree.fr/en/maisons/details#99 The Moulin Rouge. Book the dinner and show package, as you get a better table. http://www.moulinrouge.fr/index_gb.php
Alibobs Posted May 7, 2012 #9 Share Posted May 7, 2012 We use Eurostar regularly and book on line through their website. I agree with previous posters about booking premier - a much more relaxed experience
ednria Posted May 7, 2012 #10 Share Posted May 7, 2012 Is it possible to book Eurostar from Soton to Brussels? I looked at the link that Whitemarsh posted, but Soton wasn't listed. I presume this means I will have to make 2 separate reservations: Soton to London and then London to Brussels. Does anyone have a link to make said reservations? Thanks. You can book Southampton Central to London Waterloo on Great Western http://www.firstgreatwestern.co.uk/ You'll have to get a cab or take the subway to get to St Pancras Train Station and take the Eurostar to Brussels. skisteamboat Posted May 9, 2012 #12 Share Posted May 9, 2012 Couple of tips about the Eurostar Site. I clear my cookies and use both the USA and UK versions. There is sometimes a price difference between the two versions. Check the UK site, clear the cookies and then try the USA site. Clear again and use the one that gets the best deal if there is a difference. If using the UK site, make sure you pay in pounds so you minimize the exchange penalty. The prices are much better the earlier you book. Check the London Board of Tripadvisor. Lots of threads about Eurostar. Cheers
