Victor Boden versus Rony's Tours

They are both reputable. You can set up your day as you wish with a driver who will stick with you for the day. If you aren't looking for some particular guide, and just a driver it is easy to do. With a group that size, I'd get on it right away.

Our group of 8 booked the Bodden best of Roatan tour so we could see the island as our ship was to leave at 3PM. They were easy to find as we took a taxi over the hill for $2PP as we had some with limited mobility. Our tour guide Leona was very friendly and knowledgeable about the island and our driver Rupert was also wonderful. We wanted to drive and see as much of the island as our limitted time and also went to West Bay beach to a little restaurant right on the water and had a wonderful lunch and a few beers. Could not think of a better way to see the island for the first time and Leona and Rupert were wonderful as we all departed as friends. Do not see how you could ask for any better than this Bodden tour. We also went to the iguana farm but this can be left out in my opinion.

We used Bodden in '08, Rony this last month. Rony, hands-down. Our guide from Bodden sucked, and the tour we signed up for was NOT what we received. It stated there would be snacks and beverages provided. There were none offered, though we did get dropped at a restaurant to fend for ourselves. We asked for snorkeling, ziplines, and monkeys at Bodden's place, and understood that sightseeing was part of the trip. After looking at our available time, we requested that the sightseeing be cut out in lieu of the ziplines/monkeys and snorkeling. We ended up being dragged through every tourist pit and ghetto on the island. The guide failed, plain and simple. There was no time for snorkeling, but we did keep stopping at every shack selling trinkets he could find.

Rony got us directly to Gumbalimba Park, no ghetto side-trips, no stops at trinket stands. We had a great time, hit the ziplines, enjoyed the park, then Rony brought us to Banarama to snorkel. We got back in time to shop at the terminal and then board the ship.

We will be hiring him again if we return. I was sorry to have used Bodden the first time, it gave us such a bad impression of Roatan that we actually dreaded the stop for this trip and talked about just staying on the ship for the day.
