Big Jay Posted May 17, 2012 #1 Share Posted May 17, 2012 I've Just Returned, From The 5-05-12 Sailing On Carnivial Freedom!!! I Had A Great Time, But I Will NOT Be Sailing Carnivial In The Near Future!!! I Sail Solo, And Carnivial Got Rid Of The Solo Supplement, And No Matter How Much Fun I Have... I Can't See Myself Paying A 200% Supplement To Sail Carnivial:eek:!!! So Royal Caribbean, Princess, Norwegian, Look Out.. Here I Come!!!:p
rnvattes Posted May 17, 2012 #2 Share Posted May 17, 2012 I can't say for sure as I have not run any numbers, but given how much more expensive all those other lines you mention are - won't you wind up paying the same number of dollars, or awfully close??? Rare sparks1093 Posted May 17, 2012 #7 Share Posted May 17, 2012 You can forget Princess and for the most part, NCL. Although the Epic does offer single studio cabins (or something like that) at 150%.

Carolin Posted May 17, 2012 #10 Share Posted May 17, 2012 NCL Epic has the studio's for one but the cheapest I saw was a 4 day Med for $599. Hey.. you can try Cunard. I hear they have a cheaper single suppliment.
CapeCodCruiser Posted May 17, 2012 #11 Share Posted May 17, 2012 Well, at least it's not for the decline in service, food quality, entertainment, chair hogs or "service" dogs:D. Curious... When did you experience these things on Carnival?
DaytonCruiser Posted May 17, 2012 #12 Share Posted May 17, 2012 You can take RCI off your list. I don't know about the others. Royal offers lots of single supplement deals..usually 120-135% I once paid 106% on a last min booking with Royal. OP If you are willing to go the Early Saver route, Carnival is hard to beat on 7 day cruises to the caribbean, since many of the other lines have pretty slim pickings and charge a premium. Sargent_Schultz Posted May 17, 2012 #13 Share Posted May 17, 2012 Although the Epic does offer single studio cabins (or something like that) at 150%. Something like that and shoebox sized. All are insides, I believe.

Rare sparks1093 Posted May 17, 2012 #15 Share Posted May 17, 2012 Curious... When did you experience these things on Carnival? Guess my attempt at humor wasn't as obvious as I thought it was. Sorry bout that. (And as my first CCL cruise is still 149 days away I have to wait for my second CCL cruise, which would be in 2014, in order to note a decline in anything;)). firefly333 Posted May 17, 2012 #16 Share Posted May 17, 2012 You can take RCI off your list. I don't know about the others. Why is that? They have lots of 0 and up supplements. I saw a $299 balcony rate, 4 days on Liberty OTS. no supplement. Try getting a balcony on Carnival for $150 X 200%, equals $300. RCL and other cruiselines have much better rates for solos. I suspect Carnival wants warm bodies and has driven them away on purpose. Carnival is the only line I know of that never has solo deals below 200%. Anyone know of a line that is always 200% like Carnival?

Cruisekrazy63 Posted May 17, 2012 #18 Share Posted May 17, 2012 Hmmmmm, service dogs? Do you think they would believe my 7 lb Chiweenie is my "emotional therapy" dog? I hate leaving him but would never think of cruising with him. LOL

(FOS) Paid $1247, For 8-Night 5-05-12 Carnivial Freedom!!!! Originally Had The Allure Booked For 10-07-12, But Switched To Freedom Of The Seas!!! genegri Posted May 17, 2012 #22 Share Posted May 17, 2012 Don't blame you, OP. Carnival's biggest (and to some, the only) attraction is its low prices. Take that away, you might as well live up some more. :p Make no mistake, Carnival is a great line, offering a great product at a price most can afford. Kudos to that! I admire it a lot, the same way I admire Walmart. Nothing wrong with competing at price points. But again there are greater things out there, too. Good luck! Allure Was Too Much, And Too Big!!!:D That price difference is just $15 a day..and the FOS is smack dab in the middle of cane season, so it should be cheaper than a May cruise. You dont mention cabin, but Im guessing you were in a porthole on Freedom and in a true inside on FOS.
