Pier vs Tender

Anyone have a list of ports that are guaranteed to not have to tender to shore?

Are there any Carnival itineraries that do not involve tendering, or at least have minimal tendering?

Thanks.

Here is Carnival's list of ports where tendering is always necessary. Other ports can be also require tendering if dock capacity is exceeded. Cozumel and Juneau are examples of this. There are no guarantees not to have to tender -- but it is highly unlikely in most ports with docks.

Can anyone add to the ports that might go either way?

Always a tender port:

Belize

Bora Bora, Tahiti

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

Cannes, France

Catalina Island, California

Catalina Island, Dominica

Edinburgh, Scotland

Grand Cayman

Half Moon Cay, Bahamas

Kona, Hawaii

Lahaina, Maui

Moorea, Tahiti

Newport, Rhode Island

Puerto Montt, Chile

Punta Arenas, Chile

Sitka, Alaska

Suva, Fiji Islands

Zihuatanejo/Ixtapa, Mexico

Yup! Bin there done that! :)

Here's a shot of Splendor at Cannes, with tenders

In nine cruises, we only ever had to tender ashore twice. ;)

The other tendering stop was DOMINICA Isl. where the only two docks were already taken.

Cozumel

Dock

Hurricane Wilma did a number on Cozumel's cruise piers when it hit in October 2005. The Puerto Maya pier, about 3 miles south of tourist hub San Miguel, was completely destroyed and is currently no where close to reopening, ..

Old info. The pier has been up and running fine for some time now.
