I'm so drooling for a suite!! This cruise will celebrate my 40th bday and our 5th anniversary... but right now suites are $400/pp more than our balcony... we can do so much with that $800 while on our cruise that I just can't justify it. :(

However, I am watching rates like a hawk.. haha

I don't have The link handy or I'd post it, but if you do a search, you can find links to print the coupons.

Also, taking advantage of new offers is great, but as I understand it, it wouldn't mean you can stack them on top of each other. I understand it to be an offer to replace one offer with a different one. If you booked and got $450 on board credit, why would you feel like you should be able to add the "perks" offer on top of that? (If I misunderstood, I am sorry.)

Have you considered seeing if you can book the suite using the AmEx credit. It would cost you $800 total more for the suite, but the $500 credit would effectively bring the difference down to $300. You'd loose the "perks" if you had booked with that offer, but the strawberries and dinner wasn't worth very much anyway and Suites get treats every night anyway and breakfast and lunch in Cagney's each day more than makes up for one specialty dining dinner.

Just something to think about. :)

Hmm. Tempting.. although I'd have to apply for an Amex and I think the $400/pp diff right now (actually my math sucks, it's $330/pp) is for a mini-suite, which I don't think gets those perks - or do they? To go up to a penthouse, which I think (?) is the next level above mini-suite, would be $1250/pp... ouch. If only money would fall from the sky... :D

I was going to say that you can use someone else's card and still get the credit, but $1,250 a person is a whole different ball game.

You are correct in thinking a mini suite does not get suite perks. A mini suite should really be renamed to deluxe balcony or something similar.

If money would fall from the sky, I'd be cruising 4 times a year....in a suite!

Thanks for confirming re the mini-suites! I wasn't sure and I have been eyeballing them... Given the lack of perks other than maybe more space and a tubbie, I really don't see much point upgrading (unless money does fall from the sky, in which case I'd be in the owners suite and may never leave.. LOL). And paying an additional $1250/pp ain't happening in this lifetime, I'd get lynched by my husband haha.

It's a Christmas cruise, so prices are a bit crazy - although for our balcony I'd say it's dirt cheap right now for a 10 day cruise Dec 16 - 26 with that itinerary - so was REALLY happy about that! Not nearly so happy, however, about airfare prices at that time of year, which I failed to consider before booking the cruise.. duh.

Mabones, do you think there's anything "useful" in the coupons? We're trying to decide if we should take advantage or not - my PCC said we can cancel & rebook no problem, I'd lose the current perks (btl sparkly wine, choc strawbs and dinner for 2 at the Italian) and would gain the $50 OBC & coupon book. I figure the perks and the OBC are worth about the same so that's a wash, just not sure if there's enough worthwhile in the coupons to go through the hassle.. have read in the past that people didn't find anything of use in it (although everyone is different). You know, save 5% if you spend over $1000 in the fancy jewelry store isn't likely to benefit me... haha :D

One thing I noticed when I was e-mailed the coupons, it that they expire on 12/31/12. Too bad my cruise is for 4/6/13. Hopefully, I will receive new, up-to-date ones.

What sorts of coupons did you receive? Anything good? We always get a coupon book when we cruise RCCL and only ever find one or two to use.

Google or search around here as there are links to the eCoupons from NCL on this board, they are practically identical if not exactly the same for everyone.

As far as I'm concerned, these coupons are mostly marketing tricks designed to get you to spend more $$ onboard to get a discount, BOGO specials or buy $100 internet minutes on day 1 to get 10% or 15% extra (yeah, no thanks - not going to happen w. slow satellite link that I don't need) Book speciality restaurant and discount on NEXT specality surcharges or photography discount (only if you buy on day 1) - etc. Most of it not being really "free" or giveaways, etc. Perhaps a one-time free "spin" in the casino & that's about it.

Latitude members sometimes get similar offering or discounts, those are printed & customized and placed in the stateroom by the attendant - still, nothing to bounce up & down or call/email home about ...

Looking at this week's DASH sale, nothing really changed on our targeted bookings - no price reductions, but a whopping $30 OBC if we booked OV category and reduced (50% off) deposit requirement until final payment due date. The website mentioned something else about Latitude only OBC but cannot tell from the fine print what is the exact amount and whether it can be combined with DASH's OBC, maybe just one or another but not both - and, got an email about a "free" bottle of (house) wine for booking ... (which is nice, except that neither one of us are into wine/nor beer)

It does look like there are lower rates for this December on some sailings for Caribbean runs, by $50 to $100 p/p depending on cabin categories - haven't seen any 3 or 5 or 8 categories upgrade lately - anyone got them ??

Interesting, I checked travelocity & they are quoting one of the OV category (A) that's about $300 less than what's being shown on NCL's website - that'll just about beat all the OBC & offers, if it's good/valid - with the 50% deposit to match.

Decisions, decisions & tough choices, maybe - maybe not.

Re the DASH sale, is this about as good as I can expect it to get? $450 on board credit, plus a VERY low deposit, makes it attractive. I'm looking at the Gem in June of 2013, and I have this nagging feeling I can get a better deal if I wait for a future sale.

How often do they run "dash" or other really discounted or well "perked" sales?

I hope the newer ones have some of these coupons.

Thanks so much everyone, for sharing the coupon info!! And they don't really look thrilling (to me), there are very few we'd use... won't be using the spa, or internet, or buying art, or trying to sculpt my butt (likely the opposite), playing casino tournaments or bingo, there are only 2 of us so the cover charge thing doesn't help a bunch... too bad! It could definitely be worth it for some people though. I think the only things we would use is maybe the wine discount, and there is a seriously slim possibility I could talk my DH into buying pics, but that's doubtful. We'll have to see! Maybe he'll surprise me. (Like hating grocery shopping with a passion, but the first time I took him to Costco, it took 3.5 hrs to get him to leave, and our bill was over $400.. for food... for the two of us... LOLOL. I still have 2 ltrs of balsamic vinegar..)

:D

Trying to decide if I should book today to get the 50% off booking cost and room credit or wait. We're looking at next July for 3 of us. It's either $5715 and a $450 for an aft penthouse or $4464 and a $50 credit for an aft balcony on the Dawn. Decisions decisions.....

Does anyone have any rumors of future specials/deals coming up?

I never had obc. However, I did book my cruise with no deposit:D

Just curious if you booked through BJs to get the zero deposit. I'm tossing between NCL directly and there to book for next year. I've never used BJs and had some annoying experiences with travel agents.

ETA - No Deposit is only on cruises in 2012 at BJs right now. Scratch that, unless the other perks were worth it.

Hi...

I'm on hold now with BJ's and they are offering no deposit...

I've never used them before and you do get a gift card when you return .. up to $200. Depending on your cruise fare.

They are giving the same promotions, ecoupons, and to me they seem foolish... $50 NCL OBC, which isn't much...

;)

My friend Phyllis booked last week and rec'd better perks - with strawberries, etc.
