Why do you love cruising?

I love that the "travel time" to get to our destination is a vacation day itself on the ship. I love that I get to visit a few places in one vacation without having to worry about how I'm going to get myself there. I love being out in the middle of the ocean, the ultimate cut off from the world!

I'll cruise anywhere that has a crystal clear water and a white sand beach. My favorites so far has been St. Thomas/St John's and Bermuda.

LOVE being on the water, as does my husband--he would live on the water if he could! In THE WIND IN THE WILLOWS, Ratty says something about the best of life is to be "simply messing about in boats." I'm with Ratty.:D

My absolute favourite thing about cruising:

1.)Set sky to sunny and hot

2.)Take DW and me, passengers in great need of relaxation

3.)Find two deck chairs, ideally situated near a pool but far away from the hairy chest contests and the like

4.)Optional: Season with a good book or two

5.)Order my favourite drink(s) as I see fit. Sprinkle with snack food as I wish.

6.)Plop ourselves down on deck chairs, where we can read the books (strictly optional - just lying there is also perfectly acceptable), sip on the drinks/munch on snacks when the mood strikes.

7.)Do not shake or stir us until dinner

Ideal Destination:

I've yet to go through the Panama Canal (did see it once).

After that...a trans-Atlantic...where there'd be plenty of time to enjoy my "favourite recipe"

Cruising for us is the perfect vacation, because each family member can do their own thing. Meals, entertainment etc are all designed with the individual in mind.

We have gone to Europe several times on land tours. But I would like to do some traveling in Europe on a cruise, so that is the next time to click off the bucket list next year.

favorite memory-DH was gambling in the casino, I'm out on the balcony in my bathrobe, a cup of coffee and a smoke, watching the sun splash the bahamian blue water, blue, turquise, green, pale blue, dark blue, small islands off in the distance, just cruising. it was the most relaxing afternoon in my life.

dream cruise- leave from jacksonville on the fascination-key west from morning until 8 p.m., then down to HMC, then Grand Turk, then Nassau. OMG I love Nassau, I KNOW I'm wierd. and then two days at sea. Perfect cruise. ahhhhh
