Russian Ballet-St. Petersburg-Dress

My wife and I will be on the 8/13 cruise sailing from Stockholm to Copenhagen. We have booked the above excursion and was wondering what the dress code might be for an event like this. I assume a sport jacket and tie at a minimum but not sure if it calls for black tie or not. Either way not a problem, just want to get it right.

Thanks.

I personally would wear an open colar shirt and carry a sport's jacket in hand. Remember A/C in Russia is not the best and not the same standards as in North America and when I went to the Ballet 3 years ago while in Saint-Petersburg's heatwave in August we were roasting like chickens both in the Ballet and in the Hermitage.

Also remember that ballet in St. Petersburg during the summer is out of season so they bring in student companies to perform for tourists. It will not be as formal or elegant as during the winter months. Wear what makes you comfortable and certainly not black tie.

see previous thread about the same subject! As wripro said & if I may second, this is NOT a regular ballet & you will not see the legendary performaces a la Mariinsky Theater. You'll be lucky if it's advanced students who give it a good shot but are not up to any major company's artistry or technical skills. If it's in the same theater we attended (Rimsky-Korsakov) it will be hot as blazes & a real fire trap.
