Seward Shuttle

Hi there-

We will be arriving by train to Seward and need to get to to our hotel/B&B. There are 5 of us (and our luggage) - should we take the city shuttle or arrange for a taxi?

Is the city shuttle recommended and how often does it come by? We plan to be going to the Alaska Sea Life, Exit Glacier and the Small Boat Harbor. When should I arrange for a taxi and when should I take the shuttle?

Thanks!

Without knowing which hotel/B&B you are at it is impossible to answer your question. Maybe the free shuttle doesn't go anywhere near where you are staying.

In any case, a taxi is probably easiest since it is probably only going to be $5-$6 for the trip.

Check with the owner of your B & B first................we've been picked up by them.

In fact, one loaned her car to my daughter so she could hike the LONG hike at Exit Glacier................but you will have a lot of luggage with that many people.............maybe you want to rent a van. It could be much cheaper than lots of taxi rides.

Thanks all... the b&b recommended the shuttle which stops in front. It makes sense to get a taxi on the day we arrive with the luggage, but what about the other areas we visit? Taxi or shuttle?

Thanks!

The Sealife Center and Small boat harbor are at opposite ends of town, about 1 1/2 miles apart. As previously mentioned a taxi anywhere within Seward will be under $10. If you're in a hurry a taxi is probably your best bet as a shuttle will make frequent stops. Just play it by ear.

If you have good weather, it's a very nice walk from the harbor to the SeaLife Center. There's a waterfront path to follow. Wonderful views of the bay and mountains, otters playing in the water, lots of fishing boats on the move, maybe a bald eagle flying overhead.

Exit Glacier is about 15 miles out of town. You'd have to call a taxi company for an estimate. The Exit Glacier Shuttle is $10 pp so a taxi might be cheaper .. call PJ's to find out. http://cmdev.seward.com/list/category/taxi-60
