Casino "Vault"

For those who do not know, the game is "rigged." I use " " because its not totally rigged, but will adjusts variables to make sure its not paying until its making money.

Quick rundown on how these games work:

The owner of the machine, programs the computer to tell it how much money it wants to make. As an example, very much like a slot machine, they set it out to pay with a 10%-30% profit level. So in the instance of people winning $1,000, the machine will make sure that it collects between $1,100 and $1,300 for that payout. I know that true casinos on land have much lower percentages, as they want people to play more, than a cruise ship. If I had to guess, Carnival probably has it set around 30%.

So how do they "rig" it if it is skill based? Slight delays after a key button press will make the key "miss" the hole.

has a great video on a similar type game, where you can hear him press the button and watch the lights skip a block or hesitate on press.

There's a new one on the Miracle. It's a 'wheel' game, arrow has to hit one of 7 spots. Position 6 was empty.

As someone once said (specifically "who" is debatable!) "there's a sucker born every minute"... and Carnival, and every other entity which runs games of chance, rely on this.

Heck - I'm a "sucker" for continuing to play blackjack!!

I saw two different guys win it on the Breeze. Saw it with my own eyes so it can be done. I've passed by it very early in the morning and guys mostly were playing it. Hardly ever saw a woman try it.

That makes sense. Guys see it as a "challenge"!!

To the people saying they saw people win on it... Yes, it does payout, otherwise nobody would ever play it.

It is programmed so that someone at some point wins on it. Its almost exactly like a slot machine. The owner of the machine(Carnival) tells it how much money it wants to make off of it and then then machine pays out after it covers its cost plus profit.

Just returned from a B2B on the Glory. The Casino Vault game is a major rip off. I never once played it but found it interesting how Carnival would take one iPad and some money out of the machine halfway through each cruise to give the appearance that someone won something. If people are winning as Carnival says they are, that means on back to back cruises on the Glory, they gave away 2 iPads and about $3000 in 9 days.

If it was easy, everyone would be winning and it wouldn't be there.... It's a game of chance, just like everything in the Casino... and remember the house ALWAYS wins....
