Tours for more than two

How do private tours work? If we book a private tour that shows a lower price for each couple added, do we have to find the other people to reduce the price of the tour? Can we ask the tour company to try and book up the tour? Or, do we have to find people on our cruise to share the tour with us?

Thanks in advance for your answers.

In most cases, you would have to find them.

Have you joined the Roll Call for your cruise. That is where you can meet others sailing with you. We often find people there to fill out a cruise or sign up for one that someone else has planned. To join, Click Boards at the top of this page, Scroll down to Roll Calls, click on your cruise line, Click on your ship. Find the thread for your sailing.

Usually the rate is for the vehicle, with a certain number allowed per vehicle.

Rome in Limo (in Italy) has a "share" portion of their website, a couple of other venders may have some similar service. But generally it is up to you in many cases to get your fellow tourists for the private tours.

  • 4 weeks later...

our roll call to see if anyone wanted to go with us. Ruby 7/29/12 sailing.

We would have done the 240 E tour for two if noone joined, but among the 4 of us it was only 60 E each....

We had a great day with Alex from Private Greece Tours....

for our Italy excursions, there is a site shareashoreexcursioninitaly.com we used....you could even join other cruisers fom other ships in port the same day if noone from your ship was available..

It's going to vary case-by-case. Worldwide.

Yes, as other posts, best to get a group together (or join someone else's) via your RollCall - though you're at risk of a higher price if they don't follow-through, so don't commit to front-money if you can't afford that.

But we've also shared with others who'd enquired direct with the operator, and always been charged the pp rate based on the total number on the tour. So best check out more than one operator, you may end up choosing the one which helps to get a viable number together.
