Middle Aged and Happy Posted August 8, 2012 #1 Share Posted August 8, 2012 I soon will have the pleasure of taking my elderly mother on her first cruise and her first time to Alaska. I have been several times and it is my perfect vacation. My mom is diabetic and thus has medications that require refrigeration. Do the interior rooms on this ship have a "cold box" and if not, how do people store meds? Thank you for your insight in advance. This just is not something I have dealt with before. Rare rafinmd Posted August 8, 2012 #2 Share Posted August 8, 2012 Interior/Oceanview cabins on Zaandam do not have it, balconies and above do. You can rent one from HAL ($2 per day) but the supply is not unlimited so you or your TA should reserve one in advance. If you do not have it, your room steward will cheerfully give you ice. RuthC Posted August 8, 2012 #3 Share Posted August 8, 2012 If, for some reason, you cannot get a fridge, your Mom can store her meds in the Infirmary. This will take some coordination, however, as the Infirmary isn't open at all hours.
