What's it like sailing out of NYC in winter?

I am looking at a December 3rd sailing on the Carnival Splendor, leaving NYC and sailing to Orlando(CC) and The Bahamas. I am having a hard time picturing what it's like on the decks if it's cold(duh!!). Can I swim? Enjoy a balcony etc. Also is there a worry about cool temps in Fla/Bahamas that time of year? How would I pack etc. Thanks for any info! Feeling clueless, was hoping to save money by not flying.

When you leave NYC in December expect that it will be cold that day so a heavy jacket will be in order. As you sail further south it will warm up. How warm it is in the Bahamas can vary but it should be in the 70/80's there and florida around the same temperature as well. Sometimes though there could be a cold front so it will be colder. You just never know.
