librarylady19 Posted August 13, 2012 #3 Share Posted August 13, 2012 Glad you enjoyed your cruise. How was the noise/smoke above the Sunset Bar?

gymjudge55 Posted August 13, 2012 Author #5 Share Posted August 13, 2012 We had NO issues at all with noise/smoke from below. We were in 1111. The only noise we heard was my own DH after a few tequila shots stumbling back in. :p I didn't really notice a "party band" the band in the Rendevous Lounge was in my opinion pretty bad and geared towards the 70+ crowd. We avoided it like the plague. We spent our time in the martini bar and the casino.
quack2 Posted August 13, 2012 #6 Share Posted August 13, 2012 I was on that cruise too. The weather was kind of a drag when we were in ports. I enjoyed Cesarios and his guitar in the various lounges on the ship. Really like Cafe al Bacio and Bistro on Five.
gymjudge55 Posted August 13, 2012 Author #7 Share Posted August 13, 2012 Yes, we had our float plane cancelled. :( We also enjoyed the guitarist, he was excellent. The a-Capella group was good but extremely loud. They drove us out of the Cafe!

Tangocherie Posted August 19, 2012 #9 Share Posted August 19, 2012 Gymjudge55, i would like to know if you found it difficult to spend time out on the veranda because of a lack of shade for those A1 rooms? Thanks.
Tenn4ever Posted August 19, 2012 #10 Share Posted August 19, 2012 I didn't really notice a "party band" the band in the Rendevous Lounge was in my opinion pretty bad and geared towards the 70+ crowd. We avoided it like the plague. We spent our time in the martini bar and the casino. I agree about the band. We were on the Millennium's first cruise to Alaska this season. The band was not good. We only heard them a few time's passing through on our way to the MDR and I mentioned to my husband the band was not good. Yes, we had our float plane cancelled. :( We also enjoyed the guitarist, he was excellent. The a-Capella group was good but extremely loud. They drove us out of the Cafe! Yes, the classical guitarist was wonderful. We, also, liked the a-capella group, North by Northwest, but didn't really think they were too loud. The Cafe just was not a good place to listen to them. There was not enough room to even stand. They were very popular. There are very few seats around the Cafe and people would camp out in them. We would come in and get a place to stand to watch and then others would come in and stand right in front of us so we couldn't see. I think a good rule of thumb to follow which is considerate is that if you come in after others then you go to the rear instead of standing front of those who were there before you. :( We didn't think the Cafe was a good place for these performences. Northern Aurora Posted August 19, 2012 #11 Share Posted August 19, 2012 How was the noise/smoke above the Sunset Bar? While we haven't been on the Millennium since aqua class rooms were added, we did spend thirty-one nights in cabin 1138 on the Infinity last spring. That is one of the aft cabins. We never had any problems with smoke from the Sunset Bar, nor was noise an issue either.

gymjudge55 Posted August 20, 2012 Author #14 Share Posted August 20, 2012 I need to try and figure out how to post the pictures. I have them loaded on my computer. We didn't use the balcony a lot. Lack of shade was never a problem as we didn't have any sun in 7 days! We were just too anxious to be out and about. Deck 11 is a wonderful deck and not crowded to spend time out when the weather is nice. We loved the panoramic views for the glacier and inside sea day. When it rained it was impossible to sit out on the deck. I would be so torn for another cruise, don't think I need a balcony, but I would have a hard time giving up Blu! Rhoo26 Posted January 18, 2013 #15 Share Posted January 18, 2013 We will be in room 1111 in August on the Southbound Alaska Cruise. I'm a bit confused about Blu & the Specialty Restaurants. Do we go to Blu instead of the Main Dining Room? We enjoyed the main dining room on the Mercury, but that was 6 years ago & I don't think we had a choice! We're so looking forward to this cruise, but I feel a bit overwhelmed with choices! Any Alaskan excursion recommendations are greatly appreciated also. Thanks so much! Tangocherie Posted January 18, 2013 #16 Share Posted January 18, 2013 You may go to both Blu and the main dining room. I suggest you take a look at the diner menu to help you decide which venue you prefer. The breakfast in Blu is wonderfull with many items not available in the main dining room.
