check"belize cruise excursions.com" for some different options.

If you're looking for something beachy, I'd check out Goff's Caye or Caye Caulker - you can find info on the port of call boards on how to get to each of those ... Coral Breeze tours goes to Caye Caulker.

you could also check "Old Belize dot com"

I bet you Gene Simmons had an entirely private situation going on - I would not assume that you could get by with something on the budget of a typical family vacation and mimic his experience ... ...

Along with the Raddison, you might check the Black Orchid Resort or St. George's Caye Resort - google them - you might be able to work something out with one of these resorts if you're looking for a resort experience/day room.

Or - check this thread for a different idea of romance on the ship ... http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1369845&highlight=rasul

No, highly unlikely, but there are cruises down River Wallace for the average person. My post was more of an statement that romance can be found in Belize, contrary to what other posters are saying

We did cave tubing in Belize. On the way there, we saw the poorest, run-down areas. It seemed much more depressed than any other island that we have been to. This would NOT be the place I was looking for a romantic trip.

When you walk out the doors of the port area and the people start surrounding you and clawing you, that kills the romance right there! (They did back off when we said we were looking for so-and-so for our privately scheduled excursion.)

We have been to Belize twice and it isnt the best place for "romance". Search the pictures of Caye caulkner and Bannister island and I think you will be a bit disappointed. There isnt much there. We too have 2 kids under age 6 and just took our first cruise without them last month for our 10 yr anniversary. We did the same itinerary with similar excursions. Actually zip lining in Hondouras was the best for "reconnecting" we did the southsore zip line and banarama beach on the west end. Wow is all I can say. It was fantastic.

Look into Nachi Cocom in Cozumel. It's gorgeous and super relaxed. They only let 100 people in a day and it's TONS quieter than Mr. Sanchos.

I thought the same thing. When DH and I travel alone without the kids, it's Nachi for us!

As for Belize, before arranging your own excursion anywhere, please read this trip report. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1092851

A storm came and they almost missed the ship because they had arranged their own tour in Belize. As I recall, they were taking a ferry to some beach and apparently in Belize, the ferries cannot always run as scheduled. This is one port where I'd do a ship's tour (and we NEVER do ship's tours!).

The only thing I can think of in Belize that doesn't involve a tour with a bunch of other people would be to take the ferry to port and walk around the shops and have some drinks at one of the bars (Wet Lizard is popular).

We've always stayed on the ship in Belize! Enjoyed the hot tubs and pool area without tons of people.

I would not go to Ambergris Caye if I had to depend on the water taxi schedule. They operate on island time and the cruise ship keeps its schedule. What I might consider doing is chartering a service. The company that operates the water taxi service also handles charters and they mention cruise ship passengers on their web page.

I suggest you contact them about what you are looking to do and find out what they have to offer and how much it will cost. As others have said there is nothing like what you describe in or near Belize City.

If you really want to do this in Belize you can certainly do it, but you're going to have to be "outside the box" on this one. You want to get your giggity on in Belize. Not too many private secluded beaches, so you're gonna have to go the cabana route. Plus, you're coming off a cruise ship so you are on a timeframe.

What about this place, says it's 20 minutes from Belize City, so maybe tender then hop on a water taxi:

Kind of expensive for a day rental, but you didn't specify a budget, and this would definitely fill the bill.

Here's a place on Caye Caulker, I know some excursions go there so it's probably doable:

Or how about a hotel in Belize City for ultimate convenience? I found this place on a website with the initials of "T.A." that has pretty good reviews:

http://www.belcove.com/

Super cheap, seedy, in a semi-questionable part of town... totally authentic. I'm thinking a little "Secret agent 3rd-world safehouse" roleplay, yes? Dang I am getting myself worked up now... ;)

What about this place on Caye Caulker? 50 bucks for a cabana with porch and hammock? At that price, cheaper than any excursion:

This place is in Belize City and is just a little more expensive but looks super cool in the pics on the T.A. website:

I think you can find what you're looking for, it just depends on how adventurous you want to get.
