OBC Credit - What happens if you don't use it all?

I believe it depends on whether the OBC is refundable or non-refundable. From what I've heard they deduct your S&S accounts from the non-refundable first and then from the refundable OBC. If you have refundable OBC left you get a check back for the rest. I believe the price drops from ES is refundable but FCC OBC and CCL Shareholder credit is not. If I'm wrong I'm sure someone will correct me. :D

I don't drink, and I'm not really into shopping. So once when I had I think $145 OBC, I still had some left at the end. Only tips & a few small purchases cut into it. The check came on the last night, and before we got off the ship, I went down to guest services and cashed it. It was around $55.

Refunds from cancelled excursions, taxes/ adjustments, and Fun Ship Dollars are also refundable if not used.

That is my understanding as well. It is possible not to use all of your OBC credit, we did it. :D We had about $380 (actually on the ship I think it was more due to some small adjustment of taxes or port fees). We had prepaid tips and had bought some drink coupons. The only carnival excursion we did was not really an excursion, we did the "hop on/hop off" thing in Montego Bay (you pay through s and s card). So we only paid the overage on my drinks (I like the fancy stuff :D), a few hours of late night babysitting, a couple bottles of liquor from the ship store, and a little bit in the casino. We ended up going home with like $230 or something like that. But if you have not prepaid tips, buy drinks, gamble, do excursions, or buy stuff on board in the store, it adds up quick.

Anything OBC left over from FCC and stockholder credit is gone. That happened to me once but I caught it with the final bill and went to guest services and had it split up between my cabin steward and waitstaff. I had planned to use the credit towards another FCC but learned that that is charged directly to my cc.

I wasn't sure about that 2 years ago, so I made a point of cashing out my winnings at the casino after having deducted $100 each time from my account. We had close to $800 for two cabins and even spending all we wanted we didn't use it all. So, I went to the casino, took $100 from my credit, pulled the lever a few times and then cashed out.

I put money on my account every week.. by the time we go on our cruise we know we will get a refund due to the amount.. last year we had to add about $50 with our " check" to put a deposit on our next 7 day cruise. (we also had a FCC..) this past cruise we had to add less than $20 for our deposit on our next 8 day cruise (again we had a FCC).. doing this helps me get off the ship a little better knowing when we get home I get to book another cruise..(along with that we dont spend as much on the ship on things we wouldnt want after we get home) works great for us! :)
