Tampa Cruiseport

Hi

We are renting a car in Miami and will drop off in Tampa. Can anyone advise if it's best to drop off at Tampa Airport or downtown as the most close/convenient to get transportation to the port?

Many thanks.

It depends on what Rental Agency you are using. Some (Hertz) have locations in hotels fairly close to the port. They also offer shuttle to the ship.

When we last cruised from Tampa National had a free shuttle from TPA to the port -- check with the other agencies to see if they shuttle.

If you find a great deal with a company at the airport that does not offer port shuttles a taxi is only $25+tip flat rate from TPA to the port. There is an Enterprise rental location at 1001 W. Kennedy Blvd. They do not offer a shuttle but are only 3 miles from the port so if the rental price is good it may be worth investing in a taxi.

Downtown Marriott Waterside has a Hertz rental location only a few blocks from the port.

Good luck! :)

Thanks for the information. Very helpful. We'll check out which of the agencies offer free shuttle service and work from there. Cheers!

and if you are not sure where the 'port' is in relation to 'downtown'

the cruise terminal is immediately east of the aquarium

{the 'port' is kinda spread all over the general area south east of downtown... most being industrial and ship yards ... very interesting area to explore via Google Maps or similar}
