Biggest difference between Celebrity and Royal Caribbean

Royal Caribbean win

Better “Happy hour” timings for Diamond (5.30-8.30 on Royal compared to 5-7 on Celebrity which meant we never went)

That is great if you are on late seating but what about early seating?

Early seating only has 30 minutes of happy hour?

I love RCI and am looking forward to the Reflection in a few weeks. The only cruise line that will not see me anytime soon is HAL. Not my cup of tea. Cheap looking decor and service that I would rate below RCI.

I'm with you. Have to be a blue hair to fit on HAL--Lights out at 9pm.

I've only been on one cruise (Rhapsody - South Pacific). Thinking of going on Celebrity Solstice. Is there any difference between the pricing of the drinks and gratuities etc?

At this stage, yes.

For drinks, Celebrity prices in USD with 15% gratuities added on.

As RCL is trying to fit in better in the Australian market, the prices you see are in USD and include gratuities.

For gratuities generally, from a few years ago Celebrity charges them automatically.

For RCL, as of March 1 they will move to the same system. The actual amounts for RCL and Celebrity, and most other US lines in fact, are very similar.

I believe they are called "children".

Not necessarily children. I think RCL has more of a party atmosphere. Because of all the physical entertainment options, there are more young families, 20 and 30 year olds. It is a much faster paced vacation when you are trying to get everything in.

We've been on many Caribbean cruises. We don't feel the pressure to visit the islands or attend every activity on board. We like to kick back and relax. Read, eat, sleep, gamble and I'm a happy camper.
