There is a blogger who calls himself the points guy. many others out there too.

I hope you don't pay someone - there is soooo much free advice here and on the web!

The $5600 upgrade to business class - I hope that was for 2 people and not per person!

It is possible to obtain award tickets and upgrades, as per the airline rules, without using a third party. Unfortunately you do have to educate yourself as to the nuances of this which may not be worthwhile for everyone. I have spent a good amount of time on various websites and blogs (including the points guy) and I learned a great deal.

I can understand that for some obtaining award seats can be confusing and time consuming. For me I enjoy the challenge.

Flyer talk is wonderful. We do our own FF tickets with dry runs with the airline and then final booking ourselves. Usually we have to change as the newer flights get uploaded for return and incur some charges - but what is $200-300 for three or four charges when your ticket is worth 16,000 for First!
