Trolley in NO.

I've read several places that the trolley in under construction. Is it still?

 

We are staying in the garden district and last time we used it exclusively. Will we be able to this time?

Even though the street car tracks are under construction, they have the busses running the same route, for the same price. Use it like you would the Streetcar, and you have the added bonus of air conditioning in summer (or fall, or spring, it is New Orleans after all).

Wrong!!!! There are streetcars running!!! The St Charles route is undergoing maintenance from Canal St to Louisiana Ave so you will need to take the bus for that section of the route. The streetcar is running from Louisiana Ave to the end at Palmer Park-I rode it yesterday. Check out the norta site for details.

The Canal line & riverside lines are still running.

According to the link above the Canal Street Line is out of service as of Monday December 10.

That's correct. Streetcar service starts and stops at Elk Place, replaced by busses. A pain in the neck to use.

 

Work is supposed to be completed by Superbowl time.

Has there been any update regarding the repairs and/or maintenance of the trolleys? We''re going to be in NOLA next Friday.

We were there 2 weeks ago and did not see one trolley.

They are streetcars & they ARE running uptown past Louisiana Ave. That I am sure of! Check the norta site for most recent updates.

We rode the St Charles streetcar last Saturday starting at Audubon Park and going towards Canal Street. It stops at Louisiana then we got on a bus for the remainder of the ride towards Canal Street. The bus is right there at Louisiana and we probably waited 5 minutes to board it. Overall it wasn't too inconvenient.

Thank you for the updates everybody. I'll cross my fingers and hope things are at least running smoothly by this time next week. We're staying at the Drury Inn so hoping all will be well.
