sscruising Posted June 9, 2004 #1 Share Posted June 9, 2004 We will be in Antigua for the day in Aug. and think we want to go to Long Beach. What is the best way (and cost)to get there from the pier? Thanks!
OCruisers Posted June 10, 2004 #2 Share Posted June 10, 2004 We love Long Beach ... and only wish we could be of more help! We use Long Beach as our "day at the beach" when we are in Antiqua on business soooooooooo we've never been there directly from the cruise ship dock. Long Beach is across the island from the cruise dock (almost directly straight across). Just guessing ... but would think it would take about 30 minutes and maybe cost about $25 for the taxi (for two to four people) each way. The very good thing is the taxi situation. Never had a bad driver there! Just ask the taxi driver and he'll give you a price and probably throw in a bit of site-seeing as well! Hopefully, someone who has been there directly from the cruise ship will answer! Hope this helps some! YOU'LL LOVE LONG BEACH! Happy Sailing! Jamgirl Posted July 27, 2004 #3 Share Posted July 27, 2004 The taxis are right on the pier and the trip itself I am not sure the cost but you can find taxis at this website with pictures www.qualityci.com Long Bay beach is nice and you can spend the day at Pineapple Beach but Darkwood Beach is really breath taking! You can find some pictures and information on Antigua here www.classified-ads-antigua.com Have a wonderful trip:)
meyerhaus Posted July 30, 2004 #4 Share Posted July 30, 2004 Yes, the taxi drivers there are great. They do a great job. The whole island is so friendly. You will really enjoy Long Bay...it was DW's favorite. :)
js Posted June 7, 2005 #5 Share Posted June 7, 2005 Can someone please tell me if my research is correct on going to Long Bay Beach: I am seriously thinking of going here next April. I plan on taking my family of 4 which would be approx. $50 r/t from the cruise port. I will have to walk through the Long Bay Beach hotel to get to the beach but this is perfectly acceptable. I can rent chairs on the beach, although the rental place is not the hotel. I can eat, drink and use bathroom facilities. Thank you VERY VERY much to anyone that can help me out. OCruisers Posted June 10, 2005 #7 Share Posted June 10, 2005 js .... You're in great shape! Actually, never paid much attention to who was renting the chairs ... could have been the hotel? Really, doesn't matter. Our drinks and the servers who came around were from the hotel. YOU WILL LIKE Long Beach -- beautiful ... laid back with full bar and food service! Happy Sailing! Not sure - we got dropped off as part of our tour but it sounds reasonable 2. No - our driver just dropped us at one end of the beach - no need to walk through a hotel 3. yes - as soon as we were dropped off, a chair rental guy approached us 4. yes, yes and I assume so (we were only there for 2 hours and did not need the washrooms)
CinWin Posted August 19, 2005 #9 Share Posted August 19, 2005 Does Darkwood Beach have food concession and chairs?
cruzin princess Posted August 27, 2005 #10 Share Posted August 27, 2005 Great pictures of the beaches Jam girl. How far is Darkwood beach from the cruise pier? You seem to think alot of that beach so we thought we would give it a try. Are there chair rentals and a bar on the beach? Any info would be appreciated
