foxesden1 Posted February 4, 2013 Author #151 Share Posted February 4, 2013 The water was cold, but refreshing.. no sand, and they request no shoes. (of course!)
foxesden1 Posted February 4, 2013 Author #152 Share Posted February 4, 2013 I ordered two painkillers (not as good as Pussers in Tortola) and we had a rest, and quick swim. I was hungry when we got back, so I headed to the Seaview Cafe. I wanted Fish/Chips/Onion rings.. they did not have any.. luckily I want to Windjammer and it was Fish and Chips for lunch! foxesden1 Posted February 4, 2013 Author #153 Share Posted February 4, 2013 We got back to our room, to find a note to use in Spanish. We called and asked for one in English, looks like the main pool was going to be closed that late afternoon, and all of the following day. I was disappointed, that they did not open the children's swim area early to accommodate the children. I went to Guest Services, but really.. they could not care at all.. I think that was in very bad form. While there were about 80 children on the ship - it would have been nice to have had a swimming option for 1.5days out of 7 - other then two hours a day. foxesden1 Posted February 4, 2013 Author #155 Share Posted February 4, 2013 Three PM and the kids Pool was open! 25 people signed up for our Meet and Mingle, and three families showed up. We were offered juices, and there was a table set up with food, but no staff members directed us to it. They very kindly had three prize packs - which they gave to each of the families. They included a RCL messenger bag, key-chain as well as a $25.00 internet credit.

foxesden1 Posted February 4, 2013 Author #157 Share Posted February 4, 2013 Our great waiter and wonderful head waiter! I took a pix of this because I never noticed the card till AFTER the party. I just assumed it was a thank you card.. who knew? It was a wonderful surprise!
foxesden1 Posted February 4, 2013 Author #158 Share Posted February 4, 2013 Some of the stunning gifts given to the ship on its travels. another face painting night! Having lived in Paris, I made a beeline to this shop.. only to find that the flavors they had.. really did not make me want to buy one! Also - I knew we were going to be spending MOST of our day on the French side, so I only had Euro's on me - we had to go back to the ship to get US funds, for the dutch side. BUT depending on the store you were in on the French side - they were taking Euro's at Par to US FUNDS. So make sure you checked first! It was a 20% savings! GREAT SHOP, and WONDERFUL liqueurs to take home!
foxesden1 Posted February 4, 2013 Author #159 Share Posted February 4, 2013 YUMMY YUMMY YUMMY They deliver to your cabin! Mine arrived by 7pm. Next time I would just hop a taxi to the French Side - Dutch Side, and skip the beach.
foxesden1 Posted February 4, 2013 Author #160 Share Posted February 4, 2013 The above view is of the French Side.. as is this. We were dropped off in a square by the RCL tour we booked. It was late getting started - the bus did not arrive until 11:15 and then they tour guide had everyone move their watches forward by 10min - so we were in effect 25min short. The area they left us had a market, (same tee shirts as every other island, just a different name). And a few places to eat. I asked her where the local boulanger was - and went off in search of adventure. We were in a residential / shopping district that the locals went to. It had wonderful shops, places to grab a bite, as well as some great looking fashions. BUT IT WAS NOT in the area where the tour bus left us. Our guide spoke no french, and really did not seem to have very much knowledge about the town we went to. Shopping for Children's Dresses.
foxesden1 Posted February 4, 2013 Author #161 Share Posted February 4, 2013 Do it Miss Em's diet we were not able to eat out in the local restaurants but I was able to get a freshly made roasted chicken for 6.50Euros. Which we shared. It was SUPER YUMMY. The beach the tour took us to. It was nice, but they beach needed to be cleaned. It had way to much seaweed, etc. Chairs were included as was one drink - but a umbrella was $5.00USD. There was a women from Jamaica on the beach selling things, and braiding hair. We agreed on a SET PRICE - and she went ahead and did my daughter. She then charged us DOUBLE the price we agreed on. (Went from $30 to $60 dollars). I would never do that again - I left the money with my husband, and was standing less then 10 feet away - she was paid the $60 from my husband, not aware that the price we agreed on was $30 (or rather that she was trying to rip him off). There was no way of getting the money back.. clearly she did not offer to return it, so we just let it drop, and did not let it ruin our vacation). bearbear2 Posted February 5, 2013 #165 Share Posted February 5, 2013 Awesome review. We are going on explorer in march and my youngest has severe food allergies. He is only 2 so I have a large challenge on my hands to feed him on our 7 night cruise. I have contacted RCI and found out that they don't have some items that I need for him. I will be packing some of his food. He is on medical nutrition as well. I am enjoying your review. I am also traveling with a 13 yo daughter 11 yo son and 7 yo daughter. Should prove to be quite an adventure. We are Disney people and have traveled there with my son and it was great. They are top notch with special diet requests. Good luck with the Girl Scout cookies. I'm living that nightmare also. My cadette troop is planning a Disney trip for 2014. Thank you for the review

Its hard. :( I was able to bring RICE MILK, and tons of pre packaged snacks for her. It was a limited menu- and we never got some vegetables because they were not on the ship.. cauliflower.. etc.

bearbear2 Posted February 5, 2013 #170 Share Posted February 5, 2013 Unfortunately my son is allergic to rice. We can do corn though. He is on elecare jr vanilla so that is his milk source. I plan on bringing food with us. We don't have to fly. We are driving to the port so we should be ok. I'm just concerned that the only juice he drinks is white grape and they don't have it on the ship. we are going to trial apple in the next couple of weeks so I won't have to bring juice with me. foxesden1 Posted February 5, 2013 Author #171 Share Posted February 5, 2013 they might have corn pasta - I think Brilliance did. Also, if you guys are gluten free you might be able to do the rolls/bread. We were not because it had corn. em has been off rice now for three weeks - so ZERO grains. We hope to get them back at some point. We go back to the hospital on Wednesday. We ended up with just water and 2 oz portions of rice milk three times a day. I hope apple works for you!
