Official Live from the Miracle Thread (Host Terry is on board!)

Recommended Posts

Hello,

We are in Cozumel until 10 pm today. It has been another hot and sunny day. I have a little sunburn on my neck from walking around Puerta Maya. This morning I had the Hot Stones massage done - Fantastic. Last night, Nina (My wife) and I ate at the speciality restaurant (Nick & Nora's) - It was out of this world. They have changed the desserts from the Emerald Room and David's _I think I liked the old desserts!) We stayed up in the casino until 1:30 am! I not sure about what we will be doing tonight - maybe early to bed - so we can get up early and enjoy our last day - a day at sea!

I was told by the ladies at Nick and Nora's that the 2nd formal night is Thursday!

Can you confirm that the second formal night was defintiely switched to Thursday night? Thanks and have a safe trip home tomorrow!

I dont know how far ahead the tanker schedule is known. The port folks only said I could call the last weekday before the cruise, and ask if they knew whether the tanker was to be in on sunday or not. today they said yes. boohoo.

Dotshub - why does the tanker prevent the Miracle from docking? I haven't read the full explanation anywhere. Is it at the same dock or does it block the channel? I don't get it. Thanks.

the tanker docks and unloads fuel cargo at one of the other terminals in the channel leading to channelside and terminal 2, the "normal" spot for the Miracle.

they apparently dont feel comfortable from a safety standpoint for the miracle to try passing by the tanker because the channel is not wide enough.

its not a new problem and has been discussed on some other threads before.

it doesnt happen every week, and i dont know what the long term fix is, if any.

We are trying to decide which night to do N&N. we were planning on thursday, but rather not miss formal night in the dining room.

What about the other things..shows, etc...did they just reverse everything between thursday and friday?

thanks

If the tanker is there for sure this Sunday does that mean it for sure will not be there next Sunday? Is that how it works on a set schedule?

I dont think so. there have been times when the miracle was in the right place for several weeks in a row, and other times when it seemed to alternate. if there is a regular pattern or schedule, i havent figured it out yet.

i kinda think of it as pot luck!

We are told that we will be near Tampa at 2:30 am, but will dock by 6:00 am. CD Mark and ACD Karl with a K have done a good job.

Today we are having sunny skies wilth a mild chop (I assume from the storm). :)

I made it to the Slot Tournament finals today, but came in dead last in the Championship round! :(

The food, food service, and bar service have been the best of my 10 Carnival cruises. The ship is well run.

Terry - My DH is a Coors drinker. What brands are on the Miracle? How is the tap water? What is the best way to book N&N so we get the night we want?

Sorry about the last minute questions! Can't wait to follow in your footsteps soon!:D

The Tap water was fine. Not sure about beer selections. We booked Nick & Nora's the first day and even requested a window table. It was great. We booked for thursday the second Formal night -we were told because it was the second formal night that jackets were required. I wore a tux (like I planned).

Terry,

Here's a question from the beginning of the thread.

"At the end of your cruise, let me know which days you can watch the sunset from the starboard side and which ports can be viewed from that side."

Do you happen to remember if you could see sunsets or any ports from your balcony?

Also, did you have a chance to take a look at the balcony divider lock to see if it would open the same way as it did for you on the Pride?

Lastly, were you able to get any pics of your cabin/bathroom?

Thanks!

I can not remember the exact days - but we had the best sunsets on the port side early on during the cruise.

From the port side you could not see anything but another ship in Couzmel and Costa Maya. You could see the port from Grand Cayman and Belize.

Also, did you have a chance to take a look at the balcony divider lock to see if it would open the same way as it did for you on the Pride?

No, it was different - more security - you would need a special triangle type socket to open it.

Lastly, were you able to get any pics of your cabin/bathroom?

I have photos - I will post them this week.

Thanks!

Sorry for the lack of info - I wish I had more for you!

Hi Terry;

DH, 2 children ages 10 and 3 1/2 are sailing on the Miracle this Sunday. (Can't believe it's so close!) Any words of wisdom from someone who's recently been there, done that? I know that's broad, but what's definately not to be missed, and what would you pass on the next time? Any specific tips or recommendations for us - we've cruised before, but this is our first 7 day, as well as our first with our kids. Thanks for all of the great info!

I'm not Terry, but I will tell you DON'T miss Stingry Sandbar/Stingray City. It was awesome!!!! The 3 1/2 year old might be afraid, but I bet your 10 year old will love it.

If you don't mind getting up early, book earlier excursions over later. We were the only boat out for Stingray City, the first bus to Chacchoben... It helps to get there earlier. We booked through the ship, so it was really easy and well organized. They delivered our excursion tickets to our room, and we were good to go. They also changed the itinerary and because we booked excursions through the ship, we had no problems --- they just switched them up for us.

Have fun! It was my first cruise, and I loved it!!!

Did you have to do anything to switch the day of the excursions, or do they do it for you automatically. WE leave on Sun.

Thanks Carolyn

They did it for us automatically. They didn't even reprint tickets or anything. (They may for you, since you'll have more time).

It was great! We did stop down at the Purser's Desk to ask about it, but they said, "Don't worry, everything's taken care of," and they were right! :)

Hey Terry, thanks for all the updates and info. I know the Elation changes their time in Belize to match the Belize time, giving everyone an extra hour to get back to the ship. Did the Miracle change time at all since Belize is two hours behind Tampa time. What time was the last tender back to the ship? Thanks again.

We stayed on Ship's time the whole time.
