bowen9475 Posted February 7, 2013 #1 Share Posted February 7, 2013 We were booked under Early Saver for our two cabins on our cruise in about a week and a half. With the sales going on right now the rates were lower for both of our cabins. I submitted early saver forms two days ago but then realized I had made a mistake so I resubmitted them again yesterday. When I woke up this morning the confirmation emails were there. We got $500 in OBC between the two cabins! Woo hoo! Thanks to all for your help in the past few days :) Now a question - can we put some of the OBC toward our gratuities? If so, how would we go about this? Wish I could get this much OBC! I've never been lucky enough to get OBC through early saver -- my cruises had slight drops, but it was before final payment, so I just got the price reduction (still a good thing). Anyway, yes, you can use this for your gratuities if you have not prepaid them already. You will see that the gratuities will be added to your account (mine has typically been second day) during the cruise. This amount will just be deducted from the OBC. You don't really have to do anything. If you DIDN'T have the OBC, it would have been a charge for the gratuities at the end of the cruise, plus whatever else you bought during the cruise. Enjoy the rest of it, have fun!!
apdchief Posted February 7, 2013 #3 Share Posted February 7, 2013 I also have had a few price drops and now have $490.00 OBC for the 3 of us. My cruise dropped more than $700.00 since booking last summer. I have had OBC on previous cruises, but this is by far the most. As stated by the previous post this will cover my tips and a few drinks of the day!

bogeydi Posted February 7, 2013 #5 Share Posted February 7, 2013 I was wondering about applying OBC to gratuities as well. We booked an 8C a year ago -since then I've snagged two price drops and ended up with an 8M for $500 less. Between the Early Saver price protection OBC, shareholder OBC, and $200 OBC from our TA, we have over $1,000! I assume most if not all of that is non refundable. So it'd be great to pay for the gratuities with it. We've already paid for our shore excursions.
MrPete Posted February 7, 2013 #6 Share Posted February 7, 2013 The OBC is simply a credit on your S&S account, where the tips are a debit. You don't have to do a thing, nor designate them anywhere.

It is Non Refundable however you can load cash to your card in the casino and then walk away with it instead of trying to find ways to spend it :D
jenna6164 Posted February 7, 2013 #8 Share Posted February 7, 2013 Wow that is GREAT! Booked my cruise last summer on Early Saver and my cruise went up $700,lol. Not even close to getting an OBC - guess I should just be happy that I got a good rate to begin with  Happy Cruising!!
rhcpchika1 Posted February 7, 2013 #9 Share Posted February 7, 2013 I have yet to find a price drop for my cruise this time (or any for the previous cruises :)) I am jealous :) ENJOY!

How would this work? I have $800 of OBC to use!

QTPieRye Posted February 7, 2013 #13 Share Posted February 7, 2013 Awesome! Never got any OBC through ES rate yet... but still hopeful that someday it might happen.

I have never spent any money in the ship casinos - so not exactly sure how to do that - but I will find out! Thanks!
ccruisequeen Posted February 7, 2013 #15 Share Posted February 7, 2013 I've put cash on my SS account in lieu of a credit card. Any money I haven't spent was refunded in the form of a check attached to my final bill.
ccruisequeen Posted February 7, 2013 #16 Share Posted February 7, 2013 Seriously? I have never spent any money in the ship casinos - so not exactly sure how to do that - but I will find out! Thanks! Set up a "bank" through one of the slots then transfer the OBC to that bank. Then cash out of the bank. Spin the wheels at least once to show that you've "used" it.
nlktx49 Posted February 7, 2013 #17 Share Posted February 7, 2013 Go to the Casino, choose a slot machine, insert your Sail and Sign card where indicated. Set up an account - if you need help, Casino personnel will help you, but the directions are on the machine. Then load whatever amount you want on your card, it will charge your OBC. Play the slot, one spin is all it takes. Remove your card and take it to the Casino office. Tell them you want to cash out and they'll give you cash for the amount you have on there. mommytotwins Posted February 7, 2013 #19 Share Posted February 7, 2013 Congrats on the great OBC!! We booked ES as well and have had a couple drops for about 50 pp, but that was before final payment (which was great). I still hope that we get something before our cruise in April. I keep checking everyday anyway.
danhockey04 Posted February 7, 2013 #20 Share Posted February 7, 2013 Nice, we have gotten $430 OBC between two of us on our next sailing in March. Hoping for more, but only 3 rooms left in our category, so may not happen.

vinman13 Posted February 7, 2013 #24 Share Posted February 7, 2013 I just received a $323 OBC today for our upcoming easter break cruise. This will help pay for almost half of our cheers program purchase lol
bowen9475 Posted February 7, 2013 Author #25 Share Posted February 7, 2013 New question - The prices are even lower tonight. Can I submit another early saver form? In the one I filled out yesterday I explained in the comment section that we had originally booked under early saver at one price but that the current promotion lowered the rate to the new price. If I fill out another form, should I explain the price drop from the original, early saver rate or should I mention that we have already received OBC from a promotion. I want to make sure they credit the entire amount, not just the difference from yesterday to today. Thanks for the help again :) I also started a new post asking this question.
