Delta

On January 5th I booked my cruise for Sept 18th to Alaska, I also purchased my plane tickets on Delta. Make sure you check your flights every month as mine have changed every month, flight numbers, routes and seats. You have to stay on top of it or you will end up with flights that will not connect. The original flight I was on no longer is on the schedule. Be aware to avoid last minute panic.

I don't understand that.. I have purchased my tickets for 03/06 and I have paper copies of the tickets as I am flying another airline along with Delta.. I have checked their website and the flights are still there... seating is never guaranteed.. I have booked seats that I want but if they change so be it.. as for the flight disappearing that is unusual I would inquire as to why that happened???

It doesn't matter the airline. You need to constantly check your reservations because flights get cancelled, schedules change, equipment changes, airlines go into bankruptcy (or even worse shut down). Airlines should notify you when they make a change, but most of them in my experience do not do a good job of notification.

It should be standard procedure now for travellers to check your flights every so often when you book any longer term advance timeframe. My flights for next January on Delta have changed a few minutes either way a few times, and have changed aircraft a couple times, and I imagine they will some more.

I didn't keep up on my flights on Northwest a couple years ago, and when I went to the website the day ahead, punched in my flight number to see what gate I would be at, it had me going from Minneapolis to Memphis instead of the Detroit to Ft Lauderdale I had booked. They told my TA, who didn't tell me LOL.

All air flights & seats are subject to changes. In a post 9/11 world airlines do everything they can to ensure full capacity. We receive changes daily for clients flights. Mostly they are minor changes, 5 minutes here, 5 minutes there. But occasionally flights change dramatically.

Definitely check them regularly if you are booking early.

I am also booked on Delta for an October flight. Thankfully my SIL booked this flight for me and has been keeping any eye on it. Apparently they changed our planes and therefore also our seat assignment. Don't count on them contacting you because they didn't contact me.

Delta cancelled my flight from Providence to Ft. Lauderdale once. I booked this flight as soon as it opened because it was Feb. school vacation week. When they cancelled it, we were offered some ridiculous schedule that was going to take hours to get home, the flight they cancelled was a non-stop one. Finally, after my TA arguing with them endlessly it seemed, they gave us non-stops out of Boston, which the times weren't as good as the one I booked, but it was do-able for us all. Pay attention to the times, they do chance and your flight could be cancelled as well, like mine was.

Unfortunately we are in the grips of the airlines doing some pretty strange things thinking they are saving money. Yes watch your flights closely especially if you are cruising. Here is a good example of just what can happen. We just returned from Europe yesterday and was suprised at the things that happened to us. Not a big deal but under different circumstances it could have been a disaster. (Very pleasant trip) I had all the flights listed just in case there were any cancelations. The flight originated in Phoenix with Delta. We were flying to Munich, Germany by way of Atlanta. At check in we were informed our flight was delayed by 40 minutes. No big deal since we had an hour and fourty minutes for the change in Atlanta. We left Phoenix one hour late. We arrived in Atlanta with 40 mimutes to make our connection. At the gate once we arrive they were making the last call for our Air France flight to Paris. We handed the flight attendent our tickets and guess what?...They wouldn't take. We had to go back to the main desk where the head clerk for Air France said if she took the time to print out new tickets we would miss our flight. She validated our tickets and placed us on the plane immediately. (This was our indication something might be wrong) We had a wonderful flight to CDG in Business Class on a 777. At CDG I was concerned since I was not familar with this airport and had a hour to change planes. Still all went well unti it came time to hand the clerk our tickets. She said there was a problem and that our tickets had been canceled......#! Apparently some Specialist at Detal thought we wouldn't make our flight into Atlanta so our tickets were cancelled. Yes we did make our flight and even made it to France were we found out Delta had cancelled our flight into Munich. Let this be a warning that you have to keep an eye on everything going on even when there is a flight delay. We were placed on the next flight out and finaly arrived in Munich about 6:30 pm. Two of our five suit cases arrived. The other three pieces of luggage arrive later on at our hotel. This may seem stange to most Americans but Air France did a great job to make our travel less frustating. As it turned out Delta had also canceled our return flight. Thanks to the older Air France clerk everything was straighted out. It was really funny to watch this guy get on his computer and mumble something in French and turn to his assistant and say "Delta"? If I hadn't confirmed my flight two days before we left Munich I think we would had had a bigger problem. I feel for the American Airlines and I know they are doing all they can to save money however...there are somethings they are doing that very will could drive the consumer away. I hope this information helps those getting ready for their vacations. Tim
