heatherb1958 Posted June 8, 2005 #2 Share Posted June 8, 2005 which ship? I have been reading some reviews from the Legend and they have stated currency is pounds. Seems strange to me. When we sailed last year out of Southampton on the Jewel, currency was in dollars.Maybe it is because the Legend is being based ,for longer ,out of a British port . Grandma Dazzles Posted June 8, 2005 #4 Share Posted June 8, 2005 Re taking funds in travellers checks. Unless you special order, most banks issue dollar traveller checks, so in effect you are taking dollars. I am sure you can probably change dollars, i.e. dollar traveller checks on board, but you might want to change some dollars into pounds before you leave. Hard to explain, however, my mom lives in England and when I visit her I always have around $100 in pounds on me to use while traveling. It is not like the Caribbean, stores, taxis, etc. will not take dollars - you will need pounds. For example, you might need to buy a coffee/soda as you are boarding - you will need pounds in Southampton. Have a great cruise!
Grandma Dazzles Posted June 8, 2005 #5 Share Posted June 8, 2005 Re previous post .... you said you were sailing from London .... I made the assumption that you would be leaving from Southampton (British port). In any case, have some English money with you, is basically what I was trying to say. Ms Jo UK Posted June 9, 2005 #6 Share Posted June 9, 2005 The pound although not at its highest this year is still at a very goo rate believe me - 2 years ago we were getting 60c to the pound less.
