Karynanne Posted January 25, 2015 #26 Share Posted January 25, 2015 It depends on the Blue Chip card. Not all cards are created equal. I did not know that. Thanks for the info. Sent using the Cruise Critic forums app
phoenix_dream Posted January 25, 2015 #27 Share Posted January 25, 2015 This is not a slam on gamblers - I just booked a trip to Vegas in a couple weeks and love to play (although I am a low stakes gambler). It's an honest question to satisfy my curiosity. So my point is - after reading the requirements to get into the club (minimum two hours gambling EACH day of the cruise, $5 at a time on slot machines, etc..) I guess I wonder - if you can afford to gamble that much money does a free inside (or even balcony) room, or free drinks mean that much to you? I guess free anything is never a bad thing, but the price of an inside or regular balcony cabin has to be peanuts compared to what you would potentially lose with that kind of action. (and certainly for the slots, which is what I play, your odds on cruise ships are really bad so very large losses would be expected)
Seabourn Pearls Posted January 25, 2015 #28 Share Posted January 25, 2015 I didn't know anything about this. Too bad because my wife loves to play roulette. She plays and I sweep the bigger chips off the table and into my pocket. Nothing beats loading up the safe with casino cash at night and then zeroing out the bill at guest services in the morning. She won $1,300 on our 1/3/15 Reflection cruise. I just broke the last of my Fortunes Casino Benjamins at the grocery store this morning. Net-Net we did that cruise in a 1A veranda for under $1,000. Good times.

Your losses are likely going to be greater than the value of comps you'll receive for your play. The casino counts on that. My partner and I are active gamblers so we would play the same regardless of comps. The comps just help and allow us often to upgrade to higher cabin categories and enjoy a more luxury cruising experience. People who go into this trying to chase comps and spend more gambling hoping for a bigger pay-off are going to wind up with the short end of the stick. dabear Posted January 25, 2015 #30 Share Posted January 25, 2015 (edited) Just recognize that the payouts at the table games and the payouts on the slots on the ships are lower than in most land based casinos. It is foolish to play at a level higher than you normally do just to get perks. Edited January 25, 2015 by dabear
2morecruises Posted January 25, 2015 #31 Share Posted January 25, 2015 Who sez us Blue Chip Players loose "all the time'? :D I've had many "positive" cruises (and many negative ones too) . :p
