Port of Muara was a good 45 minute drive into the capital city, Bandar Seri Begawan. We passed by many houses like these on the way in. The tour guide explained that housing was getting more expensive these days.

No, they are the old menus.

 

I am not sure when they are rolling out the new menus on the Legend, but I am guessing it should be soon.

Our first stop was the Mosque. The bus stopped outside and we had to walk in.

This was the main entrance. Apparently, the escalator can only be used by the Sultan. Anyway, as non-Muslims, we were not allowed to enter the mosque. So it was just a stop to take some photos.

The next stop would be the highlight of our ½ day tour – the Water Village!

We would be boarding one of these long boats to take a short river cruise and to visit one of the houses in the water village. One longboat could take the entire coach.

We all had to wear life jackets, though the locals didn’t have to.

The water village is quite large and looks rather permanent. Other tour groups going to board their long boat.

They have even built a mosque. Yes, this place is going to be around.

See all the poles and cabling. They are all linked up in terms of electricity, telephone, water, sewerage systems.

They even build bridges to connect certain parts, built high in order to let the boats pass.

The boat stopped at one of the boat houses. All of us got off and were ushered in this very nice and large living room. Evidently, the owners were already waiting for us.

 

 

We were served with nice unsweetened tea (tasted like Chinese tea) and there were plenty of local snacks to try. The Brunei local people could speak good English.
