JillianinMN Posted April 5, 2013 #1 Share Posted April 5, 2013 Does RCI's Trip Insurance "Cancel for any reason" clause have limitations? What if I simply decide to not go, cancel the cruise and am willing to take a future cruise credit. Is "change of heart" a covered reason?
Rare markeb Posted April 5, 2013 #2 Share Posted April 5, 2013 As with all things, read the policy... Most have named reasons for cancelling, e.g. illness of self of immediate family; death in family; travel interruption (maybe), etc. I've never seen a policy that would cover "just don't want to go anymore...", but you need to read the covered reasons in your policy. Artemis Posted April 5, 2013 #3 Share Posted April 5, 2013 OP, you are absolutely correct, the "cancel for any reason" protection means just that--if you have a "change of heart," you are protected. However, you don't get your money back. You get a 75% credit toward a future cruise. Please see the last page of this PDF that outlines the terms of the RCI trip "Cruise Care" and "Cruise Credit" travel protection package. http://media.royalcaribbean.com/content/en_US/pdf/RCICruiseCare.pdf To get your cruise investment refunded, you have to cancel for the usual assortment of covered reasons, e.g., illness (subject to a pre-existing condition exclusion), natural disaster, etc.

Once had a client that was denied boarding because she brought the wrong BC. Her family all had RCL's insurance and was prepared to cancel right at the pier. Was confirmed that they could and get 75% credit toward a future cruise. The person without the right BC was able to get hold of the California government agency needed to issue a correct BC and it was faxed to RCL in Florida. Good thing the cruise was on a Friday!
