Airlines requiring a Saturday night stay

To quote the LA Times: The Saturday-night stay — that pesky and expensive requirement that airlines instituted to ensure that the business traveler pays outrageous airfares if he or she wants to go home to the family for the weekend — has gone the way of the dodo bird.

A few dodos, however, don't seem to realize that they're extinct, but their days may be numbered. See the full article at http://www.latimes.com/travel/printedition/la-tr-insider15aug15,1,1260489.story?coll=la-headlines-travel

And the answer to your question is yes.

Anyone know why airlines require a Saturday night stay? If I fly to a location on a Wednesday, cruise for a week and return the following week have I complied with the Saturday stay?

Thanks

Yes !

If you left Saturday and came back Sunday you complied.

It is the economy tickets that have this requirement .

They get more money from business people that fly out in the morning and come back later that day...so this way if you don't stay a Saturday you pay full "Y" class fare.
