1 USD = 0.820000 KYD

 

what you'll get around town is:

 

Your $10 US is $8 KYD

Your $20 US is $16 KYD . . . .

 

prices that you see are usually in CI, especially in restaurants/bars AND the highly touristy rest'/bars will automatically add in the tip as well. If paying US in this case you'd basically be adding 40% to figure the bill . . . .

Very True! Restaurant prices a normally posted in KYD.

Best to know before you go so there'll be no "sticker shock" when you get your bill! ;)

every shop and tour company I have used was USD. Restaurants I have visited were in Cayman dollars but they converted it for you and took USD

Some merchants will take USD but give change in Cayman ... We recently experienced this but later gave the change to our sting ray guide as a tip.

Think what all of us are basically trying to say is to make sure you ask if the prices listed are in US Dollars ... if not, how much in US Dollars.
