Article on Carnival, Mexico and future in San Diego

I too love sailing from San Diego. The cruise lines need to be a little more imaginative when they create the itinerary as seldom visited ports such as Zihuatenejo (My Favorite), La Paz, and Loretto are not al built up to the tourist industry as Cabo is. NCL is sailing next Spring from L.A. to Maz Cabo and PV so one competitor is making a test to get back into the West Coast market.

A West Coast cruise would also be interesting with visits to San Francisco, Portland, Seattle, Vancouver and Ensenada depending on the length of the cruise. In San Fran you could get the win country package and there are lots of interesting things to do in Portland, Seattle and Vancouver. They just need to test the market out.

On a cruise videos site I watched a time lapse video of a repositioning trip from L.A. to Vancouver which was pretty nice video.

They did the N CA route during the Swine Flu problem a few years ago, with a Canadian port replacing Ensenada. I would have loved to go in that one. Princess does it in spring and fall from LA.

Back in 90's, the Pacific Princess made a port stop in Eureka, CA. That would be a great port, lots of good shopping, some of the best micro brewries in the country and of course, close to the tallest trees in the world (redwoods). They have filmed a lot of movies there and the redwoods found in Big Sur are pathetic compared to what is in Humboldt County.

Don't mean to hijack the op but thought it was interesting in the article that they are considering Calica. I don't usually care or complain because I'm on a cruise, but Calica left a lot to desire. It would be neat if they could make something nice there.

We did one of the 7-night Canada cruises on the Splendor out of Long Beach during the swine flu scare - it was FANTASTIC. We stopped in Astoria, OR - Victoria, BC - Vancouver, BC. I would book that cruise at least once a year if they brought it back. (And $349pp for an 8D balcony wasn't too shabby either!)

We took the Amtrak down (less than 5 hours down the coast from us) and walked (maybe) half a mile to the Spirit back in 2005.

Ixtapa was my favorite port and I would LOVE to visit it again.

I, too, vote for a California coastal itinerary (like Princess and others have)...I live 30 minutes south of Santa Barbara and it's an amazing town with tons of things to do and see (wineries, Indian Casino & Solvang nearby, tour of celebrity homes [...i.e. Oprah], historic State Street, Santa Barbara Zoo...you name it....).

Anyhoo...just my 4 cents. :)

Inspiration will continue to leave on Mon and Fri.

When it's in town, miracle will leave on Sunday.

Imagination for the most part will be leaving on Sunday for the 4 night cruises and Thursday for the 3 night cruises. There are some exceptions, particularly when Miracle is scheduled for the 6 night cruises that leave on Sunday and come back Saturday, or the few 7 night cruises that will leave on Sunday instead of Saturday.

I'm sure figuring out the Long Beach cruise schedule between the 3 ships was no small task.
