What's going on in the evenings in the Vista Lounge (Golden to Alaska)?

Recent Golden cruisers, what's going on in the evenings in the Vista Lounge?

Also, are there age limits for any of the lounges? I'm sailing with my DD (16) and she and I love shows and music. I'm pretty sure that Skywalkers is 21 and up only, but are any others? I don't want to set her expectations and then disappoint her.

I think Sky walkers is the only one that has a min age. In the rest your DD won't be served any alcohol.

I don't recall much happening in the Vista Lounge. The do the Motor City show there a couple of nights. During the day, Zumba, Bingo and stuff like that. Some evenings maybe a repeat show of a comedian. Much more going on in Explorers, and the big shows are in the Princess Theater. Skywalkers is the only one with an age limit, but there's not typically much going on there on Alaskan cruises. I'm sure you and your daughter will find plenty to do!

Usually it's just the casino and Skywalkers (but at certain times -- otherwise anyone can get in) with a minimum age. Your daughter will be allowed to take part in many of the "adult" activities (trivia, shows, zumba) without any problem.

There was quite a lot going on in the Vista Lounge on my sailing on the Golden in December: line dancing, Zumba, numerous movies, bingo, trivia, culinary demonstrations, hula dancing, ballroom dancing, a variety of Scholarship at Sea lectures, and numerous evening shows including comedians, jugglers, hypnotist, the Motor City production show, and the Words and Music production show. There will be plenty for a teenager to do.

It would be fabulous if these types of activities were going on in the Vista Lounge! I hope that they make such good use of the Lounge in Alaska! I loved my one prior Princess experience (Sapphire, California Coastal, 3/30/13) but wondered why they didn't make better use of the aft lounge. It was always nearly empty. All the activities you mention, Princess Patches, sound like a good use of the space!

Hmmm. You've been on the Golden to Alaska, so your experience may be most relevant. I hope that Princess has rethought their use of the lounge since last year.

It's too bad about Skywalkers not getting much use. If it's like the one on the Sapphire, it's such a beautiful discotheque, and it's too bad people don't use it. No one used it on the Sapphire either. My husband and I went up there a few times to enjoy the beautiful light shows, the music, and the environment, and we were just about the only ones there.

A lot of that can depend on the Cruise Director, and I was not impressed with the one we had last year. I seem to recall more happening there in past years, but would have to dig out my old Patters to be sure. I think David Cole is back on the Golden this summer, so it could be much better for you!

Alaska cruises tend to be a lot of families and a LOT of older people. Also, it's a port intensive cruise, so people are tired in the evening and go to bed in order to get up early again the next day. Two years ago we took my teenagers, and my oldest was 18 at the time. He and his friends would go up to Skywalkers at night and he says it was typically a small group of 18-20 year olds and one "older couple" that liked to hang out with them. There really wasn't much happening up there at all.
