Buffett010...thanks for the Handel's update. I was telling someone today about this neat ice cream place being discussed on the boards and I find there is one in the Cleveland area...in Broadview Hts. Actually, from where I live, the one in Columbus may be closer! In any case, I MUST try them.

Enjoy the concert!

I always was under the understanding the OSU had a better Optometry school than UM.

In fact, the latest US New rankings put Michigan in the top 10 in every field they ranked. OSU is ranked in the top 10 in the following areas : (0)

OH...and a collegiate 'breast-beating' reply:
My Juris Doctor is from a top state law school, located in Ohio, not in Michigan, and not in Columbus--the school with the hightest first-sitting pass rate of all Ohio law schools, and ranked as the Best Value of all state law schools in the country! Take that, you Wolverines and Buckeyes! Ha Ha.

Hmmm. Must be University of Akron. I also got a JD from a University that's ranked #7 in the country and that counts Clarance Darrow, Richard Gephardt and Richard Riorden among its alumni. One more hint (in case you can't tell from my id): It's in MICHIGAN!

Hey theawsome1...Handel's is on Rt82 (Royalton Road) just east of Broadview Rd. I live in Litchfield, half way between Medina and Wellington, so I really can get to Columbus in about the same time as Broadview Hts. Well, OK, maybe not, but, sure is less traffic! This must be a sign tho...have son in Toledo, Columbus AND Broadview Hts. Handel's is calling...Lizzzzz....can ya hear it!

For parretheads in Ohio check out Chris Logsdon. He does a great cover of Buffet. Very entertaining. His web site is http://www.chrislogsdon.com/.

Mostly Columbus gigs but also does some in northeast Ohio on the weekends.

Thanks to all who wished us a great concert! We had a blast and ended up only 8 rows from the stage - great! Plus, I ended up with 4 extra tickets - sold two and gave two away (I had won those 2 and gave them to a guy that just returned from Iraq and had lost his eye after being hit by shrapnel - he was on TV in Columbus, I guess).

Anyway, a CC party at Handels sounds great - any takers? Then we can go to Adobe Gila's and listen to Chris Logsdon that raudacruise mentioned.

Raudacruise - Thanks for the heads up about flooding down there. Actually, we were in Columbus all day Friday, too. We picked my sister up from work at the Rhodes Tower and on the way back to her house in Powell, the storm hit. Wow - what a light display! We hit Lane from High, so we didn't cross the bridge, although a car in the lot behind the hotel was halfway submerged, and remained that way all weekend.

Hope everyone that's trying Handel's for the first time enjoys it!

Keep us posted if a meeting is set up. We're always up for meeting fellow cruisers. Drove down to Columbus last summer to meet up with some from the Royal Caribbean board and hosted one in Toledo a couple of years ago. They're great fun and we LOVE Handels!

This is Off-track...
I am from IL and planning a road trip (brief break from cruises) to Cleveland this summer with some friends...destination: Rock and Roll HOF.
Any suggestions for local hotels that are walking distance and not the major chains?

How about restaurants that are popular among the locals (little known to the general public) - more moderate pricing, esp. Italian.

Tips for other activities that are "must-do" if in the area (OR along the NW part of the state)?
Thanks for any help

Hello! I am a Cleveland (54 years) RHF is the end of E9th St at Lake Erie. Pricey hotels such as Marriott is in walking distance but a block up is a Hampton Inn on E9th & Superior. On E6 & Euclid is Holiday Inn Express. Lastly Comfort Inn on E18 & Euclid near CSU.

If you are flying in, take the RTA rapid transit downtown for $1.50 each way instead of a $30 cab ride.

Hi, we're from the east side of Columbus, Bexley to be precise. We were also at the Buffett concert Saturday, but in the medium nose bleed seats. At least we weren't behind the stage. It's always a fun show, but somehow it's better outside.

What a blast from the past to see Chris Logsdon's name. I used to see him at some little bar just off campus; I no longer remember the name since it was about 20 years ago. It sounds as though he's been singing the same songs all those years.

Clopaw - Did you guys go to any of the pre-parties in front of the Holiday Inn, the lot next door, or the Schott? We were at all 3 all afternoon, and everyone was asking to get their pix taken with DH. He had a very large Buffett hat on with a margarita glass on top and all kinds of Buffett stuff around the sides. Then, at night, he had blinking lights on. Plus, a parrot-Hawaiian shirt and a grass skirt. He's tall, so he's not hard to miss. Just wondering, as everyone there seemed to keep running into us! Hope you had a great time at the concert - I know we did!

Dancing Gal - I just got the most recent Ohio magazine, and in it is a whole section on Cleveland. A couple hotels have special packages that include 2 admissions to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, complimentary parking, and breakfast. If you're interested in this infor, email me at buffett010@aol.com and I'll send it to you, or DH can fax it to you on Sunday if you have a fax.

Also, some other things to do - Cedar Point (an amusement park in Sandusky, Ohio), the Nautica Queen in Cleveland for a lunch or dinner cruise, and several wineries in the Sandusky area. You could also go to Put-in-Bay by Sandusky - it's an island that likes to party!

Let me know if you want info on any of these things, and enjoy Ohio!

The Cleveland Zoo as well as Geauga Lake Park, 30 mins East of Cleveland off RT 480 (RT 43S exit). It was bought out by 6 Flags who went belly up so it is back to Geauga Lake.

Just an FYI -
Yes, the name is back to Geauga Lake, for now anyways. Cedar Fair LP, the company that owns Cedar Point, has purchased this property and is not sure what their plans are for it. We have passes to Cedar Point, and they are not good at Geauga Lake yet, so I wonder what will be going on with that new property. Any ideas?

I am a Buckeye in Toledo! I will be looking for the "Handel's" tomorrow!! Love ice cream!!!
Being a "Buckeye" doesn't necessarily mean football, I could care less, just born and raised here!!
