dining problem, table size

Recommended Posts

why not two tables for 8? let Grandma alternate tables? 15 folks at the same table is going to be very confusing particularly if Grandma has any hearing problem.

I think this is probably the best solution. One long table for 15 would take forever to get everyone's order taken and for everyone to be served (which is why we hate going to dinner with a large group). It would be impossible to converse with anyone except those sitting in one's immediate area anyway.

Our first cruise was with a family group of 12. We had two tables for 6, right beside each other. It was perfect! We had fun switching people around each night, and the wait staff was not only wonderfully accommodating, they even encouraged it.

We find that even round tables for 8 are often too large to hold a conversation with those across from you, but a table for 6 is perfect.

Hope it works out for the best for your family!

We did a birthday party a few years ago - we had 6 tables together, all 6- or 8-tops. Prepaid the gratuities as we were in 2 sections; and played musical chairs every night so we all had face time with the birthday girl. The youngest of our group really enjoyed the special attention from the wait staff. The teens of the group opted out occasionally. We had a great time. Would love to put that group together again for a cruise.
